It’s in the second mainline title that the Master Sword surfaces, changing things forever while possessing the power to “seal away dark forces.”
3. Kratos’ Blades Of Chaos
Kratos, the legendary Ghost of Sparta from the God of War franchise, has relied on the Blades of Chaos for as long as one can remember. Considering the position he is in now, having redeemed himself and all, Kratos carries a heavy burden with this weapon, and you really need to understand the game’s lore to grasp the gravity of the situation at hand.
Anyway, long story short, the first God of War starts you off with these blades, prefacing it by showing Ares — the Greek God of war — signing a deal with Kratos, empowering him with the Chaos Blades in the process, which are bound to Kratos’ arms’ flesh. The weapon is actually a symbol of the monstrosity that Kratos had become due to his blind servitude to the gods.
It was only when some sense was snapped into Kratos that he put the blades to good use and utilized them to take out the very gods that failed him. When all of this concluded with the ending of God of War 3, Kratos began afresh in the 2018 reboot, burying the Chaos Blades, and pulling them out only in an extremely desperate situation. Man wasn’t that a moment?
