Sons of the Forest: How To Get Rebreather

Rebreather is an extremely important piece of gear or item that you should get as soon as you can in Sons Of The Forest. It will allow you to explore the underwater depths of the ocean and rivers, which will additionally allow you to find hidden caves in the game where you will be able to obtain more loot and resources.

How To Get The Rebreather

You will find the Rebreather inside a specific cave in the game, and that cave is located on the north side of the map, as shown in the image above. You can easily spot this cave as it is located on a beach at the very corner of the map, unlike the other caves. Additionally, if you’re lucky, the game might even spawn you here at the beginning.

The entrance of the cave will be sealed off by some wooden planks once you arrive at the location. You can easily destroy those planks with your melee weapon or the axe in the game. Once you destroy those planks, you can enter the cave itself.

Immediately after entering the cave, you will be greeted with a plethora of resources, including flares and ammunition, alongside an oxygen tank which is actually something you’ll need later for the Rebreather itself. Grab these resources and traverse the cave to obtain the Rebreather. 

The path in the cave is almost linear and only branches off at one point, where you’ll take the path on the left to reach the Rebreather. Additionally, it is extremely dark inside the cave, and you’ll need a light source to traverse the path. You can either use your lighter or the Flashlight, which is the better option for exploring the cave.

You will also face Mutant enemies inside the cave. Either run away from them or fight them using the weapons that you’ve crafted in Sons Of The Forest. When the linear path branches off, keep following the path on the left until you reach the end of the cave. It is at that point where you’ll find the Rebreather laying on the ground, which you can pick up and equip later.

You can additionally use the Rebreather to escape the cave as well because there is a puddle of water at the end of the cave that you can jump inside. However, beware of the Shark inside the water. Either kill the shark or swiftly swim your way out of the cave.

You should also note that you can obtain a Stun Gun inside the same cave. The only thing you have to do is take the path on the right instead of the left. Additionally, you can come back for the stun gun later as well when you’ve restocked on resources, especially weapons to fight off the Mutant enemies.

Uses Of The Rebreather

Firstly, you need to make sure that you use the Rebreather only when necessary because there is a limited supply of Air Tanks that you can get to refill the Rebreather in the game. You can obtain these tanks by exploring the map and additionally find two in the same cave where you find the Rebreather.

Now that you know about the air tanks, let us discuss some benefits of the Rebreather in the game. As you already know by now, this piece of equipment can be used to dive in the ocean in Sons Of The Forest. Now you will be able to explore the world that’s been buried underneath.

In the ocean, you will find secret entrances to many caves in the game, which you can explore to get more resources in the game. Basically, the Rebreather will allow you to find hidden areas which you can later explore to get useful items for your survival in Sons Of The Forest.
