Prince of Persia The Lost Crown: Unlock All Athra Surge

Athra Surges are special powers that Sargon uses against standard, elite enemies and bosses in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. These come in three tiers, and unlocking each one is required before you can use the powers. There are 10 Athra Surges and most can be acquired by defeating some of the powerful mini-bosses and main bosses in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. 

1. Verethragna’s Smite

• Athra Surge Type: Level 1
• Cooldown: 25 seconds 

The Verethragna’s Smite Athra Surge in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown enables players to execute a forceful offensive maneuver. Sargon rushes toward an enemy with a piercing strike capable of breaking through defensive barriers.

This powerful ability is automatically unlocked as part of the main quest progression, requiring no additional actions from the player. As soon as players gain access to the use of Athra Surges, Verethragna’s Smite becomes available, allowing the protagonist, Sargon, to unleash a formidable series of sword swipes, even affecting enemies behind shields, using a single-meter bar.

2. Shahbaz’ Spirit

• Athra Surge Type: Level 1
• Cooldown: 25 seconds 

The Shahbaz’ Spirit Athra Surge in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown delivers an impactful cross-slash attack above Sargon, allowing players to unleash a powerful upward strike in a cross-slash pattern.

To unlock Shahbaz’ Spirit, players must engage in a battle against Alternate Sargon in the Sacred Archives. To initiate this encounter, players need to progress through the game until they unlock Clairvoyance. Near one of the Wak Wak trees, traverse using Clairvoyance to reveal jumpable paths. Following these paths, you will reach a room where Alternate Sargon awaits. Successfully defeating Alternate Sargon in this mini-boss fight will unlock Shahbaz’s Spirit Athra Surge for use.

3. Wind of Sistan

• Athra Surge Type: Level 1
• Cooldown: 25 seconds 

The Wind of Sistan Athra Surge featured in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown conjures a swirling wave of Athra around Sargon to damage nearby enemies. This skill proves effective for crowd control, especially in scenarios where adversaries surround the player on both sides.

To acquire the Wind of Sistan, players must explore The Depths section of Mount Qaf. In close proximity to the descent point from the Lower City, you will find a room. This is also two levels above the Wak-Wak Tree and the fast travel point. Within this room, interaction with a skeleton located on a platform above a bug nest is required. This interaction unlocks the Wind of Sistan Athra Surge.

4. Vayu’s Wave

• Athra Surge Type: Level 1
• Cooldown: 25 seconds 

Vayu’s Wave, the ultimate Level 1 Athra Surge, is an offensive skill empowering Sargon to unleash a forceful projectile wave of Athra. The skill basically sends a blade projectile that pushes back enemies, and it can be triggered while staying on the ground or being in the air. 

The process of unlocking Vayu’s Wave is straightforward; visit the top-right corner of the Haven area on the map and successfully complete all nine initial combat challenges presented by Artaban. Functioning as instructive tutorials, these challenges cover various gameplay aspects, and upon the completion of the challenge associated with Athra Surges, players gain access to the powerful Vayu’s Wave, one of the best Athra Surges in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown early.

5. Bahman’s Breath

• Athra Surge Type: Level 2
• Cooldown: 15 seconds 

Bahman’s Breath in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is considered one of the best support Athra Surges, offering a valuable defensive capability. This power allows Sargon to generate a small healing zone, enabling gradual health restoration when standing within it. Its effectiveness makes it a crucial asset in challenging encounters, essentially providing a convenient alternative to health potions.

To unlock Bahman’s Breath, players need to head to the Hyrcanian Forest early in the game, where they encounter the first Wak-Wak Tree. Speaking to Kamil, the spirit within the Wak-Wak Tree, is the key to obtaining Bahman’s Breath Athra Surge.

6. Arash’s Ray

• Athra Surge Type: Level 2
• Cooldown: 15 seconds 

For those who adopt a more defensive approach and seek to avoid direct confrontations, Arash’s Ray Athra Surge in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown proves invaluable. This offensive power allows Sargon to unleash an impactful beam attack from his bow, dealing substantial damage as it penetrates through enemies.

The unlocking process for Arash’s Ray is seamlessly connected to the main story quest of the game. In the process of the third storyline, “The Tiger and the Rat,” players complete a quest to chase down an old man and recover his map.

This leads to a compelling battle against Alternate Sargon within the Depths. Upon getting the victory in this encounter, players are rewarded with Arash’s Ray Athra Surge. This crucial event happens organically as part of the main questline, ensuring players naturally acquire this powerful ability while progressing through the narrative.

7. Hadhayans’ Might

• Athra Surge Type: Level 2
• Cooldown: 15 seconds 

Hadhayans’ Might is a strong move in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. When you use it, Sargon teleports up and then slams down, causing big damage to enemies below. You can only do it when you’re on the ground, but it takes away a lot of the enemies’ health.

To get Hadhayans’ Might, you need to beat two Alternate Sargons in the Soma Tree area. For this, go to the western part of the Hyrcanian Forest, where there’s a Wak-Wak Tree and Homa Statue. You’ll see a metal gate, and you can go through it by throwing your Chakram and teleporting to it. Beyond the gate, you’ll face two of Sargon’s look-alikes, and that’s where you’ll get Hadhayans’ Might.

8. Soul Of Gilgamesh

• Athra Surge Type: Level 3
• Cooldown: 10 seconds 

The Soul of Gilgamesh Athra Surge is the best in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown because it not only fully restores Sargon’s health but also grants him a powerful state, making him faster, stronger, and more resilient to enemy attacks. This ability enhances combat by enabling extended combo chains and improved defense against melee damage.

This battle takes place near the Wak Wak tree on the left side of the map. Upon reaching a specific area, use the Dimensional Claw ability to destroy a wall, revealing an alternate Sargon boss location. 

9. Bahamut’s Rage

• Athra Surge Type: Level 3
• Cooldown: 10 seconds 

Bahamut’s Rage Athra Surge is another very useful power in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown because it’s a powerful offensive move that summons a huge whirlwind, throwing smaller enemies into the air and crushing them on the ground, often defeating them in a single hit.

To unlock Bahamut’s Rage Athra Surge, you need to defeat Orod as part of the sixth main quest, The Celestial Guardians. After beating Orod in the Raging Sea zone, you’ll discover this Athra Surge. The journey to unlock it is straightforward, tied to the natural progression of the game’s storyline.

10. Rashnu’s Judgement

• Athra Surge Type: Level 3
• Cooldown: 10 seconds

Rashnu’s Judgment in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is by far the most difficult Athra Surge to use and it is also the highest damaging power as well. Sargon prepares for a powerful counter-attack and deals significant damage to any enemy that strikes him while the ability is active. While it requires precise timing and mastery of attack patterns, its versatility in countering both regular and unblockable attacks makes it a valuable toolkit in various combat situations.

Similar to unlocking Bahamut’s Rage, this Athra Surge is rewarded upon successfully overcoming a boss. Once Menolias is defeated, players gain access to Rashnu’s Judgment, providing them with a powerful defensive and offensive tool for strategic use in upcoming fights.
