Ark: Survival Ascended has seen quite the harsh critique on major video game-centric platforms online, including Steam, particularly because of bugs, crashes, and other glitches that make the action-adventure almost unplayable. In its defense, the action-adventure is in early access and was also waiting on its console launch up until now. Although the Xbox version of the title is here, the PS5 variant has been delayed again.

Studio Wildcard — the developer studio that has worked on the Ark franchise — made a post earlier, explaining the current state of affairs for Survival Ascended in terms of its launch on console. The dev has announced the launch date for the game’s Xbox Series X|S release while giving out an update for the PlayStation 5 version of the open-world action survival.
The post reads,
We’re still working closely with Sony on PlayStation 5 certification for Ark: Survival Ascended. While we have been targeting a late November launch, today we’ve encountered some issues which will require additional time. We now anticipate a PS5 launch date in early December. We’re working diligently to bring you the best possible cross-platform experience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. We’ll continue to provide updates on the PlayStation release as we make progress.”
As of now, therefore, Ark: Survival Ascended does not have a concrete release date on the PlayStation 5, but will likely make landfall on the console around December 5. Previously, the devs delayed the Xbox launch of the game just in the nick of time, pushing it by a margin of a bunch of days. Do note that this was the second delay for Survival Ascended on Xbox consoles, and with PlayStation, it’s the third.

For those not in the know, the prospect of Ark: Survival Ascended first met a bevy of enraged fans, particularly because of the pricing model that Studio Wildcard had set for its then-upcoming venture. Fans expected a free upgrade to the reimagining of the Ark world, but evidently, a purchase will be required to enjoy the next step in line for this action-adventure-oriented franchise.
Ark: Survival Ascended was released in early access on PC on October 25, 2023, with an Xbox Series X|S version launching today on November 21. The game, thus far, has rolled over 600,000 units on PC alone within the span of two weeks and is now looking forward to a launch on PlayStation 5 next month.
