In a shocking turn of events, numerous players who have bought the God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Edition claim that they did not receive the digital code that was a part of the box.
The edition at hand comes with numerous collectible items. These include but are not limited to:
- Full Game for PS4™ and PS5™ (printed voucher)
- 16 inch Mjölnir (replica) Hammer
- Dwarven Dice Set, Two 2 in Vanir Twins Carvings
- Steelbook Display Case (no game disc included)
- Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine
- Digital Contents Voucher
- Darkdale Armor
MAJOR TAKEAWAYS:
- Fans around the world have been getting faulty pieces of the God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Edition.
- There seem to be items missing from the kit.
- The most common missing element is the digital code to access the game.
Fans were looking forward to getting their exclusive items while playing the games. However, one fan’s experience was marred due to the fact they did not receive the printed voucher for the game code. Aghast and dumbfounded they took to Twitter and had this to say.
My Collector’s Edition shipped from Target with two of the same DLC code, and no game code. Others have the same issue. Please help! @corybarlog @SonySantaMonica @PlayStation @Sony #GodofWarRagnarok #GodofWarRagnarok #santamonicastudios #sony #playstation pic.twitter.com/aUmrUG4zTS

In the tweet, they mention that the God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Edition had been purchased from target and in fact had two of the same DLC codes with no sign of the digital code to play the game.
Another player Skychrono had a similar experience. Where they had in fact received two similar codes.
Like others on @HelpUsSMS, I received the #GodofWarRagnarok Collectors Edition minus the actual game. Target will accept a return buuuuut it kinda sucks anyway. @corybarlog pic.twitter.com/LVAmBKONdJ

While things may seem bleak for these two fans. Another player named Critter Manley had them beaten. According to him, his did not even include the steel case.

Interestingly, a new and dedicated Twitter account named GOW Collector’s Edition Mishap! has emerged. On their page, you can see numerous players venting out their frustration that somehow content creators seem to get their God of War Ragnarok copies in “pristine conditions.”
Whilst the rest of the fans have to scramble around to solve an issue they did not even create. Twitter is not the only platform the fans seem to be targeting. In fact, there is a special Reddit thread on r/GodofWar.
While many fans are rightfully upset about this ordeal, some remain rather unfazed. In fact, one fan stated, “This is the 2nd one of these collectors editions in a row Sony dun fu***d up. WTF is going on?”
Another fan agreed with the sentiment and said, “Yes, Sony sucks at making collector’s editions. How not to forget the damaged box of The last of us part.”
While there has been no news from Santa Monica Studio, fans are pretty hopeful that their God of War Ragnarok will get exchanged.
God of War Ragnarok is the work of Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is available now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
