Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Reportedly Feature Three Separate Skill Trees

The info was dug from the original PlayStation announcement.

Story Highlights

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature three different skill trees. One for Peter, the other for Miles, and a third with shared abilities, as listed in an official blog.
  • The different skill trees will allow users to invest in skills differently for both characters, while the shared skill tree will also serve as the classical venture from previous titles.
  • The title saw a huge reveal in the recent PlayStation Showcase event. Jim Ryan has also shown enthusiasm for the title, and Insomniac is working to make it its best release ever.
  • The game is set to release in the Fall of 2023 for the PlayStation 5, as hinted by the team in the official announcement. We can expect it to arrive around September.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems to have different skill trees for both the protagonists and a third one that will serve as team abilities that can be used together. The info was hidden beneath the treasure trove of a blog post by PlayStation that elaborated on the recent stupefying gameplay reveal. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will have completely different abilities that players can decide to select or ignore in the separate skill trees.

Between Peter’s new Symbiote abilities and Miles’ newfound blue bioelectric powers, each Spider-Man has their own unique set of skills that can be upgraded via all-new individual skills tree. Our heroes share technology and train together, too, so we also included a shared Skill Tree that offers parallel upgrades for both,” mentions the blog.

The characters will play differently for each user due to the ability to invest in the separate skill trees, pushing the immersive venture into a new realm of awesomeness. Moreover, the third skill tree appears to be quite attractive, as users will be able to invest points in abilities that influence both characters at the same time in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2; this makes it fair for users that would have preferred a single skill tree for both protagonists.

It is quite a switch-up, but one that makes sense. The original Marvel’s Spider-Man focused on Peter Parker completely, while the second release saw Miles Morales in the limelight. Hence, both the previous titles saw a single skill tree for all the characters. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow us to do “near-instant switching” between both characters during certain story moments, making combat unique and refreshing between both choices.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 recently saw a notable reveal at the PlayStation Showcase 2023 event with “rip-roaring gameplay.” Since then, fans have been curious about all the gameplay specifics of the protagonists and the foes that will cross paths with the New York vigilantes. It is now clear that we will spend a lot of time conjuring up the best skill sets for both characters and the team abilities that can be utilized during combat.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal focuses on revealing Spider-Man inflicted with the Symbiote threat while fending off the goons affiliated with Kraven the Hunter. We see Peter and Miles working together to try and save Lizard from the Hunter and using a wide array of abilities in enthralling and fast-paced gameplay, although Peter’s changed demeanor becomes apparent soon enough.

The new info serves as a small treat until we receive more official details before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 eventually releases for the PlayStation 5 in 2023. There are no chances of delays, as confirmed by the talented team of devs in the past. Although no release date is currently known, the potential Game of the Year title will potentially appear in Fall 2023, as mentioned in the original blog by the team.

Previous reports have suggested that Insomniac Games is doing its best to make Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 its best game ever. Hence fans are pretty excited to get their hands on the alluring sequel; even Jim Ryan has shown enthusiasm for the entry while doubling down on supporting PC ports.
