Modern Warfare 2 May Feature Footballers As Operators In Future

Guns will not be the only things with kicks moving forward.

The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has built up significant hype. The beta for the game managed to gather quite a high number of players, but the beta is gone now, so we won’t have to wait for much longer now.

The game is set to release on October 28, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S but the game has had several leaks, such as a dataminer managed to leak the challenges for camos of some weapons, or the classics map pack.

Now we have some new information. Well-known Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope has given us a list of yet unreleased operators for Modern Warfare 2, and some of their names seem eerily familiar. GhostOfHope then clarified that this is because the names are indeed football players’ names.

Major Takeaways:

  • Renowned Call of Duty leaker has found out about some unreleased operators for Modern Warfare 2.
  • Some of the names are of famous footballers, such as Messi.

There are many games in the gaming world that all gamers have at least played once. These universal experiences include the GTA series, the FIFA games, and Minecraft. One such series that almost every person has played once is Call of Duty.

You cannot talk about gaming without mentioning the series. It is one of the world’s most popular and highest-grossing media franchises. Call of Duty’s influence is unmatched; every game sells like hotcakes. The games are permanently engraved in every gamer’s brain, especially the many iconic maps it has spawned over the years, or in a way, how it has had many guest characters as Operators.

Now, we may be getting footballers as operators in Modern Warfare 2 in the future, that is, according to well-known Call of Duty leaker GhostOfHope. The leaker tweeted that these were unreleased operators for the upcoming game.

Indubitably one would look at this list with an uncanny feeling that they have heard these names somewhere, especially Messi, Neymar, and Reyes, among others, before being reminded of the fact that these are the names of footballers.

GhostOfHope was all too aware of what some people may have been thinking, and though they did not know the reason, they stated in a follow-up tweet

As can be seen, even the leaker is unaware of why the operators have these names. Perhaps it is a collaboration event, or maybe they are temporary guest characters. In the case of the latter, it won’t be the first time that CoD has had high-profile characters and actors as operators or in-game characters.

Famous actor Kevin Spacey was in the main cast of Advanced Warfare, additionally, many guest characters have been added to CoD games through collaborations. These include John McClane (Die Hard series), John Rambo (Rambo series), and Ellen Ripley (Alien series), among others.

It may also be an event to collaborate with the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar starting on November 20, 2022. It should also be noted that Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on November 10, 2022, and if this indeed is a collaborative event, then the operators may appear soon after the launch of the game.

There may also be many high-profile collaborative events for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, as Activision has often implied they have big plans for Warzone 2 especially. Earlier this year, Godzilla and King Kong made it to Warzone in an event dubbed Operation Monarch, which had its own separate playlist in the game.

Currently, we do not have any other info to corroborate these findings, but we will remain on top of the case and provide updates ad news accordingly.

With the Activision acquisition this year, the game has been the main focus of the industry. Call of Duty has dominated the gaming conversation with doubts over its future on platforms and its sustainability. However as the debate goes on, the game continues to break all kinds of records and show its worth over and over again.

The Call of Duty franchise has loomed over the FPS genre with its popular renditions. However, various installments over the years have seen ups and downs in recent years due to a lack of innovation in its generic formula.

As such, the burden on Modern Warfare 2 is no small one, and we hope that it releases to acclaim and returns the franchise to its past days of glory.
