Remnant 2 Devs Confirm Crossplay Between PC And Xbox

Both Remnant games recently made landfall on Xbox Game Pass.

Story Highlights

  • Remnant 2 by Gunfire Games is a smash-hit 2023 release, being a third-person shooter Soulslike.
  • The game along with the prequel Remnant: From the Ashes, has recently landed on Game Pass.
  • The developer has issued an update, clearing some common confusions about this happening.

Remnant 2 has made a name for itself following its launch, coming across as a massive upgrade from its predecessor, Remnant: From the Ashes. In recent times, Gunfire Games surprise-landed the two titles on Xbox Game Pass without a prior announcement—Microsoft’s premiere video game subscription service. Today, the devs have issued an update that clears up some misconceptions about this whole event.

Taking to X, the official handle of Gunfire Games makes its points and clarifies first that cloud saves between Windows Store via PC Game Pass and Xbox Series X|S sync just fine, so players on both platforms can pick up right where they left off, should they choose to switch their system every once in a while. Next, if you’ve bought Remnant 2 on either platform, you can play it on both, no sweat, and the same goes for the DLC, The Awakened King.

Lastly, you’ve got the crossplay functionality kicking in for both Series X|S consoles and Windows PCs, which is a first for the game following its release. For reference, the third-person Soulsike shooter does not support cross-platform play between other consoles, such as the PlayStation 5, for now, but this is something that Gunfire Games is looking into down the road.

For PC players, there’s even more good news. The devs recently confirmed in another tweet on X that the PC version of Remnant 2 has been patched with DLSS, so enthusiasts can dive into the RPG shooter with better visuals right off the bat, though if you’re after even better performance, we recommend checking out our in-depth Remnant 2 best PC settings guide.

In other news, the title has done splendidly in commercial terms so far, rolling over 2 million copies and generating over 700 million Swedish Krona in net sales. Critically, Remnant 2 is currently sitting with an 80 Metascore on Metacritic and has also been nominated for the Best Action Game at this year’s The Game Awards. The winner of the distinction will be announced when the event goes live on Dec 7.

Remnant 2 was released on July 25, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Earlier in November, the game got treated to its first-ever DLC expansion in the name of The Awakened King. Our interview with Gunfire’s Principal Director revealed to us that the developers have planned a total of 3 DLCs for the action-packed shooter RPG, so that means we’ve still got 2 add-ons to look forward to.

eXputer’s 4/5 review praised Remnant 2’s “astounding progression system and rich RPG elements” that allow the title to elevate itself to heights that its predecessor never reached. If you’re a new player, here’s the best Ritualist build in the game that comes after 85+ hours of personal experience.
