The Next Halo Title Will Be Available On All Platforms, Says Job Listing

Will the next entry in the FPS franchise head to PlayStation 5?

Story Highlights

  • Halo could be transitioning to multi-platform releases according to a new job listing.
  • As per the summary, the next Halo titles will come to all players on all platforms.
  • This aligns with Microsoft’s new strategy for Xbox games, with the likes of Hi-Fi Rush releasing on PlayStation.

As per a new job listing from 343 Industries, the next game in the Halo franchise will be released on every platform. According to the summary for the Lead Game Systems Designer position, the employee will work to provide a high-quality and cohesive experience for “all players, on all platforms.” Hence, moving forward, Halo could be going multi-platform.

Halo all platforms
Halo’s future could include releasing titles on all platforms.

Of course, this listing doesn’t specify the consoles upcoming Halo titles will launch on. But, with the recent rumors surrounding exclusive Xbox games coming to other platforms, future games in the franchise releasing on PlayStation 5 seem plausible. Credible journalists have already confirmed that AAA Xbox IPs like Starfield and Hellblade 2 are probably jumping ship and releasing on competing consoles.

Similarly, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the upcoming action-adventure title from MachineGames, is now rumored to be releasing on the PS5 a few months after its launch on Xbox Series consoles. All of this is part of Microsoft’s new strategy for exclusive first-party titles and even though it isn’t official yet, an announcement is probably coming next week.

Halo Infinite is among the games that leakers are predicting will be released on the PlayStation 5 with the Master Chief collection also being mentioned in the rumor mill. Only time will tell if the future of Halo includes Nintendo Switch and PS5, but for now, you can only play the franchise’s games on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
