Cyberpunk 2077 Becomes #3 Weekly Global Top Seller On Steam

CD Projekt RED's action role-playing video game is back on the Steam Weekly Global Top Sellers ranking, according to SteamDB.

It’s no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 had a troubled release, with bugs in the game so bad that CD Projekt RED was at the end of several class-action lawsuits. However, even after all this controversy around the game, the reviews were still fairly good. The PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 got universal acclaim and it was comparatively bug-free. People who played the game on PC were certainly able to enjoy it to the fullest. Sales on the platform back up this amazing performance of the game. Recent numbers on Steam now show that Cyberpunk 2077 is still going strong.

Cyberpunk 2077 became the #3 Weekly Global Top Seller on Steam in last week’s Steam Weekly Global Top Sellers ranking, according to SteamDB. It wasn’t even in the top 10 positions last week, so the game has made a huge jump to get into the top 3, hitting #3 again on Steam after months, which is a great achievement for a single-player game. Only Elden Ring is above Cyberpunk 2077 in software sales from the past week. Considering the former’s insane success, this isn’t too much of a surprise. As for the #1 spot, Valve’s handheld console, Steam Deck, has taken that position (no surprise there).

It just shows the great legs Cyberpunk 2077 has to sell this much in 2022. The game was released way back in December 2020, more than a year ago. Hence, making the #3 position on the Steam Weekly Global Top Sellers chart is even more sensational, considering that it’s been out for so long. It seems like Cyberpunk 2077 has held quite well against other games, even dethroning the recently released LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which was the #1 Top Seller on Steam just a couple of weeks ago.

There is no doubt that Cyberpunk 2077 had a very controversial release, especially on consoles. However, CD Projekt RED has done a lot of work to undo the damage. After a long absence from the PlayStation Store, a better version of the game finally came out and was also released on next-generation consoles.
