Players have received almost 400 titles from the distribution platform.

Story Highlights

  • As per PCGamesN, Epic Games Store has offered users free games worth $10,000 since 2018.
  • The distributor has given out 393 titles with almost one free game available per week.
  • Major titles like Death Stranding, GTA V, and Control are part of this massive number.

According to research conducted by PCGamesN, the Epic Games Store has distributed free games worth over $10,000 since 2018. As per the website, the online distributor has given users exactly 393 different games in the past 6 years after you consider some titles like Death Stranding that have been offered twice. The sum of all these free handouts is exactly $10,110 or £7,950 as per the info provided.

The online storefront developed by Epic Games has dished out free titles every week for the last five years leading to this massive number. Over the holidays, the frequency of these gifts increases even more with Epic giving users a free title every day. In the recent holiday season, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was the last free game of the 17 titles players received without any cost.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the free titles on Epic Games Store last year.

A big positive of Epic’s free game handouts is the variety in them. From AAA titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Arkham Trilogy, Control, and Tomb Raider to smaller indie games which are given a platform, the store offers something for every player. Granted, other online distributors like Steam also give out free titles from time to time, but they can’t match the frequency of Epic which is close to subscription services like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass.

But, considering how you pay $160 for PlayStation Plus Premium and $180 for Game Pass Ultimate while an Epic Games Store is free of cost, the online distributor stacks up pretty well. Right now, Doors: Paradox, an indie puzzle escape game, is the free offering of the week from Epic. Hopefully, the online store will keep offering amazing titles for no cost in the future.
