Assasin’s Creed Mirage’s release date has been announced at today’s PlayStation Showcase. The game will release this year on October 12. Assassin’s Creed is returning to its roots, not just in setting but in its gameplay as well. The large open worlds of the previous Assassin’s Creed games will likely be left behind for Mirage.
Mirage will also be set in Baghdad, a Middle Eastern setting not seen in an Assassin’s Creed game for years. The game was first announced at Ubisoft Forward last September.
The setting and release date of the game was leaked by a Japanese retailer earlier today. High-quality images of gameplay were leaked on Amazon as well. A return to a smaller scale game is something the Assasin’s Creed franchise needs, as prior games were massive open worlds that had over 100+ hours of content, with some complaining these games was just too big.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage can be preordered now, for a somewhat discounted price compared to other past Assassin’s Creed games. The game will only cost $49.99 for the base version, and $59.99 for the deluxe edition.
