Story Highlights
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the upcoming sequel to the 2018-released Marvel’s Spider-Man by Insomniac Games.
- The game has been slated for a release date of October 20, 2023, with no early access period designated whatsoever.
- Making the launch more special, Sony has announced another console bundle for the game, which will be available to purchase on the title’s release day.
The new PlayStation 5 console bundle that players can purchase on the day of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release contains a Physical Edition PS5, a digital code for the game in question, and one DualSense controller, among other essential set-up items. PlayStation says that you’ll be able to get your hands on this console come October 20, which is the same date as the global release of Spider-Man 2.

While no official pricing of the product has been revealed at the time of writing, the bundle is expected to cost $559.99, which is the same as its God of War Ragnarok counterpart that had been up for sale on PlayStation Direct for some time following the exclusive’s release. At the moment, though, you can purchase another Spider-Man 2 PS5 console bundle, and quite honestly, that one’s a real charmer.
Announced back in July, this Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 console is an exclusive edition and comprises themed face plates for the PlayStation 5. Not only that but the DualSense paired with the console is designed in a similar fashion. Being a collector, I’ve owned several PlayStations in the past, including various console covers for the PlayStation 5, but this one is frankly the best one so far.
It’s priced at $599.99 and can be bought from PlayStation Direct right now. You can even have the whole thing shipped to you before October 20, but as far as redeeming the digital voucher code for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is concerned, you’ll only be able to do that once the title has been released. It’s a great thing, though, that PlayStation sells the covers and the themed DualSense separately as well—a major convenience for those who don’t want to get a new PlayStation 5 just for the aesthetics.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 remains one of the biggest releases of the year, being a PlayStation 5 exclusive title and the sequel to the mega-hit Marvel’s Spider-Man that came out for the PlayStation 4 in 2018. In case you’re looking to dive into the game blindly and not ruin any facet of the story or gameplay in advance, steer clear of the spoilers lurking around the internet following the trophy list leak of the title.
On a side note, another leak has suggested that it’ll take around 30 hours for you to earn the Platinum trophy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Now, this is something that fairly depends on the pace of the person who’s playing the game, so for others, the play length could be considerably longer or shorter, depending.
And in case you missed it, no graphics mode featured in Spider-Man 2 will have ray tracing turned off. Insomniac’s Director of Core Technology, Mike Fitzgerald, sat down in an interview, and expressed his thoughts on the matter at hand, saying,
There’s no mode of this game that has the ray tracing turned off, no need for it. We’ve really figured out how to deliver what we feel like is the right Spider-Man visuals and we want to make sure every player is seeing that.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will make landfall on October 20, 2023, for the PlayStation 5 exclusively, with no early access period or cross-gen availability whatsoever.
