Cities: Skylines 2 Patch Notes 1.0.18f1 Released; Character LODs Added

Developer Colossal Order has released the latest patch notes 1.0.18f1 for Cities Skylines 2. The update improves gameplay, graphics, and overall performance issues including the addition of new maps, Sunshine Penisula, and Corral Riches, and LODs (levels of detail) to characters and assets. 

Notable gameplay improvements include improved lane-changing behavior for vehicles. Moreover, Cargo air transport and Storage building issues have been fixed. Also, the money buffering system is replaced with a new system to address transaction issues when deducting money. Additionally, missing localization for photo mode and options menu has been added to enhance overall gameplay.

Regarding performance and graphical upgrades, the geometry layout for assets has been optimized as well as texturing and lighting. In addition, line color has been added to cargo ships, passenger ships, and cargo trains for better transport. Last but not least, the quality of character models, lights on forest machinery, and propping for buildings has been revamped.

Cities: Skylines 2 was initially released on October 24, 2023, for PC. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version are planned to release in Q2 2024. Upon its release, the game has received mixed receptions from fans and critics alike. In Asad Ahmed’s 3.5/5 review, he described the game as an “unfinished mess of a game.”

Despite its flaws, the game can be quite enjoyable in its city-building mechanics. Therefore, to get started on building a great city, make sure to learn how to manage taxes and educate the citizens. Most importantly, don’t forget to turn on autosave so you don’t lose any progress.
