Diablo 4: How To Summon Golems [Walkthrough]

Summon golems in Diablo 4 allow them to help you in crushing enemies.

The Necromancer class in Diablo 4 is extremely powerful and can destroy any enemies. To unlock the full potential of this character, you need to know how to summon a golem in Diablo 4. I have included all the steps that you need to take to accomplish this goal.

Key Takeaways
  • To summon a golem, you must complete the quest, Necromancer: Call Of The Night.
  • You can attempt the quest once you are at level 25 as a Necromancer.
  • The NPC Maltorius will guide you on how to unlock this ability.
  • You need to collect 12 Unbroken Bones to complete the first phase of the quest.
  • To complete the second phase of the quest, you must fill the Jar Of Souls with the souls of your enemies.
  • Once you have filled the Jar Of Souls, Maltorius will teach you the incantation to summon golems in the game.
  • There are 3 main types of golems, and each type suits different playstyles.

How To Summon Golems As A Necromancer

There are a handful of classes to pick from in Diablo 4, and each class is unique in terms of its play style. For example, The Barbarian class is focused on melee combat and attacking your foes head-on. The Necromancer class is focused on summoning minions that fight for you. These minions range from warrior skeletons to undead golems that you raise from the dead.

Here are the steps that I took to summon golems in Diablo 4:

  • Abilities are limited to each class; choose Necromancer for summoning golems in Diablo 4.
  • The golem-summoning ability unlocks at level 25, not available from the start.
  • Reach level 25 by clearing main quests and dungeons.
  • At level 25, a special quest, “Necromancer: Call Of The Night,” is added to the quest log.
  • The quest has a priority indicator in the main menu.
  • Click on the quest to start tracking a marker on the map, guiding you to the quest location.

Once you unlock the quest, you have to complete it before having the ability to summon golems.

Here are all the steps I took to complete this quest:

  • The marker will lead you to a place near the outskirts of Menestad.
  • Over here, you will notice that there is a Shrine Of Rathma and an NPC waiting for you right beside it.
  • The NPC, Maltorius, claims that he is a teacher who aims to preserve and spread the teachings of Rathma, the first and greatest Necromancer ever to live.

Maltorius gives you the task of collecting 12 Unbroken Bones to form the body of the golems before you proceed to the next step.

  • As you finish talking to him, a few undead enemies will spawn nearby, dropping the Unbroken Bones for you to collect.
  • Once you are done collecting the 12 Unbroken Bones that you need, go ahead and talk to Maltorius once again.

The next thing Maltorius instructs you to collect is a Vile Artifact that you need to give the golems their spirit.

  • The location for the artifact will be automatically highlighted on your map, as you can see in my attached image.
  • Make your way to the marked location and enter the Bitter Cave.

The entrance to the Bitter Cave will be glowing Orange. Enter the cave and move straight ahead. Once you are inside the cave, look for the Jar Of Souls.

  1. The Jar Of Souls is the artifact that you need for this quest, and it is in the form of a statue.
  2. Once you interact with the Jar Of Souls, enemies will start spawning nearby, and by killing them, you will start to fill up the artifact.
  3. There will be a progress bar that informs you how many more souls you need to collect for the artifact.

Once you have filled up the Jar Of Souls, Maltorius will appear right before you and inform you that you are ready to inherit Rathma’s power to summon golems.

  1. He asks you to repeat the following words, “Spirits, I offer you this vessel. Protect us so we may protect the balance.”
  2. As soon as you are done repeating the phrase, a powerful golem will spawn right in front of you.

That is all you need to do to unlock the ability to summon a helpful golem in Diablo 4. Completing the quest also grants you a large amount of EXP and some gold that you can use.

Using The Summoned Golems

Now that you know how to summon a golem, the next step is to learn how to utilize them properly.

Below, I have listed all the steps that you need to take to use this skill:

  1. If you are playing on a PC, press the S key, and it will bring up the skill menu.
  2. Over here, you can see your newly learned skill, Summoning Golems.
  3. Drag this skill to an active skill slot that you want to assign to it.
  4. Now that you have the skill equipped, press the designated key when you are in combat, and you will summon your golems.

You can navigate to the Book Of The Dead in the menu and see all the types of golems that you can summon. There are 3 main types of golems in the game.

  • Bone Golems: Golems now deal additional damage and slow down enemies within an area.
  • Blood Golems: Golems now have higher health pools and deal more damage to enemies.
  • Iron Golems: The Golems gain resistance to Physical Attacks and grant the players additional health and mana.

Each of these has its strengths and weaknesses and you should pick the ones that suit your style. For example, if you are going for a Bone Necromancer build, you should pick the Bone Golem. Similarly, if you are going with a Blood Mist Necromancer Build, you should pick the Blood Golem. These golems complement your build and help you demolish your enemies.

Golems are a great way to dominate your enemies. They are, without a doubt, one of the strongest skills and will help you out a lot. This is also one of the reasons why the Necromancer class is so strong overall in this game.
