FIXED: Warzone Season 3 Not Working

Get around Season 3 not working in Warzone by Verifying your Game Files, Disabling EntryProtect Inject Service, and more!

Plagued by countless glitches and other issues, Season 3 is not working great for players in Warzone 2. The most common problems include crashing, frame drops, and DirectX errors.

While many of these glitches stem from back-end problems, it is worth noting that some crashing or frame-drop issues might be from your end. But fret not: I have a few ways to get you back into the queues.

One of the errors read: “DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error.”

Before getting into the more detailed fixes, I recommend trying some basic troubleshooting options:

Key Takeaways

The methods to get Warzone back on its feet are as follows:

  1. Repair Warzone 2 Game Files
  2. Disable EntryProtect Inject Service by Citric Systems.
  3. Disable In-game Overlays.
  4. Lower In-Game Graphic Settings.

Repair Warzone 2 Game Files

Firstly, I suggest you validate your game files for Warzone 2. Season 3 in Warzone 2 might not be working for you because of possible file corruption during the update process. This problem is common when files are re-written or updated. So, it would be a good idea to rule this possibility out first.

Fortunately, both game clients from Steam and Blizzard carry the feature to do this. So, while it may take a short time, any corrupted or missing game files will be readily addressed.

Disable EntryProtect Inject Service

Citrix Workspace is a digital workspace software platform developed by Citrix Systems, widely used by employees worldwide. However, their protection service, EntryProtect, has been known to interfere with Warzone. This is generally because Ricochet, Call of Duty‘s anti-cheat, actively searches your drive for unwanted apps or services.

This is a problem because Warzone will stop working if the anti-cheat detects something dubious, even a false positive. So, I suggest disabling all software services to rule this possibility out.

Here’s how you can do so:

  1. Press Win + R > Type msconfig > Press Enter.
  2. Switch to the Services Tab > Click on Hide all Microsoft Services.
  3. Click on Disable All > Re-enable the 3 Nvidia Services > Click OK.

Once done, restart your computer before checking if the issue persists.

Disable In-Game Overlays

Having overlays when playing a game can redirect your computer’s resources away from them. These are resources that are better utilized by your games. Additionally, these overlays go on top of your games, which can cause issues with Season 3 in Warzone.

So, to rule them out and get a small boost in performance, I suggest disabling all active 3rd-Party Overlays. This will take much of the unnecessary load off your PC, potentially resolving the problem.

Lower In-Game Graphic Settings

Lastly, if your computer still struggles after disabling in-game overlays, I suggest lowering the graphic settings for Warzone. If your PC doesn’t have the juice, frame drops and crashing issues will be commonplace. In this case, you can try to play on Optimal Warzone 2 Graphics Settings.

Generally, reducing shadows and lighting effects while keeping the rest of the settings at Medium is a good idea. Further, reducing the Render Resolution can boost performance, although do this as a last resort.

Final Words

While countless players were incredibly excited to dive into Season 3, the update has been quite troublesome. It was so bad that some players couldn’t even start the game. Adding to that, the issue was quite widespread, with tons of reports on Steam, AMD Forums, and Reddit

However, if there’s anything good about Activision, they quickly respond to player feedback. Subsequently, the Official Raven Software Twitter did address the issue. Further, the problem was more or less fixed with mid-season patches. Specifically, I believe the May Patch For Warzone 2 was the one to resolve most issues.

But, if that didn’t work for you, I hope you resolved your problem with the discussed methods. However, if the issue persists, my final suggestion will be to contact Activision Support for personalized help.
