Best Armors In V Rising

Armors play a key role in keeping you alive. They protect you from enemy attacks, each offering a different amount of protection. Furthermore, some even come with special buffs, which make them even stronger. At the time of writing, there are nine armor sets in the game, but not all of them are worth wearing.

Wearing a better armor set also increases your overall Gear Score, which contributes to increasing your character’s level in the game. While you’re at it, check out our V Rising Iron Ore guide as well.

In our list, we will mention five armors that we found to be better than the others. For each armor, we will talk about what it offers, whether it has any special buffs or not, and what its crafting requirements are. So without any further due, let’s dive into the list.

Nightstalker Armor Set

x12 Coarse Thread

The first armor that I would like to mention on our best armor list is the Nightstalker armor set. While this may not be something that you can trust during the later parts of the game, it can surely help you against the enemies you’ll face during the early stages.

The amount of protection it offers is decent, and it won’t let you die so easily. However, unlike some of the other armors in the game, the Nightstalker Armor set has no special buffs attached.

V Rising Best Armors
Nightstalker Armor Set

The Vest of the Nightstalker armor set has +31.1 HP, Leggings have +26.7 HP, Gloves have +17.8 HP, and Boots have +22.2 HP. As you can see, its amount of protection isn’t too amazing, but it will still help you stay alive longer.

However, we recommend you switch from it as soon as you find a better armor set. Furthermore, all armor pieces of this set can be crafted at the Simple Workbench, and you’ll need 6 Leather and 4 Coarse Threat for each piece.

Merciless Nightstalker Armor Set

Vest HP Leggings HP Boots HP Gloves HP Durability Gear Level Set Bonus Total Salvage
40.4 34.6 28.8 23.1 602 4
  • +12 increase in max HP
  • +2 increase in Physical Power
  • +1 Gear level
  • x12 Leather
  • x24 Copper Ingot
  • x12 Coarse Thread

If you’ve decided to take on tough bosses, you must get yourself good armor. Otherwise, you won’t survive a minute in combat. While the Nightstalker armor set can protect you from regular enemies, the Merciless Nightstalker can also defend you from boss attacks.

This armor set is better and more powerful than the above-mentioned one, and you should get it if you’re struggling against powerful enemies.

The best part about the Merciless Nightstalker armor set is that it has two buffs attached. When you equip two pieces of this set, your max health will increase by 12. And when you have four pieces of this set equipped your physical power will increase by 2, while your Gear Level will increase by 1.

Best Armors in V Rising
Merciless Nightstalker Armor Set

You must find the recipe for each piece to get the Merciless Nightstalker armor set in V Rising. The recipes for this set can be found in Farbane Woods, and they will drop randomly after you take down your enemies. It will be wise to raid as many bandit camps as possible, as they always swarm with enemies.

The Vest of this set has +40.4 HP, Leggings have +34.6 HP, Gloves have +23.1 HP, and Boots have +28.8 HP. To craft each piece, you will need 4 Leather, 4 Coarse Threads, 8 Copper Ingots, and either a Nightstalker Vest, Leggings, Gloves, or Boots, depending on your crafting. Furthermore, it can be crafted at the Simple Workbench.

Hollowfang Armor Set

51.6 44.2 26.8 23.1 742 5
  • x24 Cotton Yarn
  • x24 Leather
  • x24 Wool Thread

Next up, we have the Hollowfang Armor set. Now, while it may not have some special buffs like the Merciless Nightstalker set, it offers better protection than it, something which makes it one of the best defense armors. You can trust this armor while fighting powerful bosses, as it won’t let you go down so easily.

However, you won’t be able to get this armor after you have made a good amount of progress in the game. But you won’t be needing it against the starting enemies anyways.

To get your hands on the Hollowfang Battlegear in the game, you will first need to keep on upgrading your Castle in V Rising until you unlock the Blood Altar feature. For those who don’t know, the Blood Altar feature is used to track down powerful bosses.

After you have unlocked it, you will need to track down Quincy the Bandit King, a boss who can be found in Farbane Woods. Remember that the boss isn’t easy to take down, so make sure you’re prepared for a tough fight.

Hollowfang Armor Set

After defeating the Bandit King, you will be rewarded with tons of items, including the Tailoring Bench structure and Hollowfang Battlegear recipes. You need to construct the Tailoring Bench and then use the Hollowfang Battlegear recipes to craft this powerful armor set.

Each piece requires the same materials, which are 8 Cotton Yarn, 8 Leather, and 8 Wool Threat. You can read our V Rising Cotton guide to learn how to make Cotton Yarn for this set.

The Vest of this set offers +51.6 HP, while Leggins have +42.2 HP, Gloves have +29.5 HP, and Boots have +36.8 HP. Overall, it is a fantastic armor set that offers a good amount of protection. When you pair it with a powerful weapon, you’ll become unstoppable. Also, you can read our V Rising weapons tier list to learn about the best weapons in the game.

Merciless Hollowfang Armor Set

64.8 55.5 46.3 37 914 6
  • +4% increase in Movement Speed
  • +4% increase in Attack Speed
  • +1 Gear level
x36 Iron Ingot

The Merciless Hollowfang is yet another armor set on our list that comes with two special buffs, and that is why we think the armor has the potential to offer the best defense in V Rising. When wearing two pieces of this armor set, your overall movement speed will increase by 4%, which will help you reach your enemy’s location quickly.

And once you have the entire set equipped, your attack speed will increase by 4%, while your Gear Level will increase by 1. What more could you ask for?

V Rising Best Armors
Merciless Hollowfang Armor Set

The Merciless Armor set has overall durability of 914, which is huge. Furthermore, it can be crafted at the Tailoring Bench, which you unlock after taking down Quincy the Bandit King. You will need 12 Irgon Ingots and either the Hollowfang Chestguard, Leggings, Gloves, or Boots to craft each piece.

The Vest of this set offers +64 HP, Leggings have +55.5 HP, Gloves have +37 HP, and Boots have +46.3 HP. Overall, the Merciless Hollowfang is a powerful armor set that can protect you against some of the toughest enemies in the entire game. It may have been the best armor in the game, but only if its overall durability was a little higher.

Dawnthorn Armor Set

Vest HP Leggings HP Boots HP Gloves HP Durability Gear Level Total Salvage
80.1 68.7 57.2 45.8 1119 7
  • x120 scales
  • x9 Pristine Leather
  • x6 Ghost Yarn

Now, coming down to the best armor in V Rising, the Dawnthorn armor set. Unlike a few of the other armors, this one does not have any special buffs. However, the amount of protection the armor offers it offers is what makes it the best.

When you have the entire set equipped, this armor’s total durability goes up to 1119. At the time of writing, no other armor offers this much protection. Sure, the developers may add a strong one, but the Dawnthorn armor set currently holds the top spot.

V Rising Best Armor
Dawnthorn Armor Set

The Vest of the Dawnthorn armor set has +80.1 HP, the Leggings have +68.7 HP, the Gloves have +45.8 HP, and finally, the Boots have +57.2 HP. Like the armor above, this can also be crafted at the Tailoring Bench. You will need 160 Scales, 12 Pristine Leather, and 8 Ghost Yarn for each piece.

The crafting requirements may seem high, but this is something expected from an armor of such high power. Since you’ll need plenty of Scales for this set, you can read our V Rising best Scales farming methods to acquire this material quickly.

Overall, the Dawnthorn armor set can be worn against any type of enemy, and it will be wise to keep it on all the time when you’re exploring the Hallowed Mountains.

Boneguard Armor Set

Vest HP Leggings HP Boots HP Gloves HP Durability Gear Level Total Salvage
18 15.5 12.9 10.3 347 1
  • x74 Bone
  • x30 Animal Hide

The Boneguard armor set is made from bones, but you might have guessed it already from its name. This is the first armor set every V Rising player acquires, as you’ll get it during the tutorial stage. You will get the luxury to craft it at the workbench, and it is easily the best armor for the game’s early stages. However, we suggest you switch when you find a better option, as this armor won’t protect you against strong enemies.

The overall durability of the Boneguard armor set is 347, and you will need 30 Bones to craft each piece. The Vest of this armor set offers +18 HP, Leggings offer +15.5 HP, Gloves offer +10.3 HP, while Boots have +12.9 HP. Furthermore, unlike some of the other armor sets you’ll obtain in the game, this one has no special buffs. But this is something already expected from a starting armor.

Plated Boneguard Armor Set

Vest HP Leggings HP Boots HP Gloves HP Durability Gear Level Set Bonus Total Salvage
23.7 20.3 16.9 13.6 406 2
  • +8 increase in Max HP
  • +2 buff to Physical Power
x180 Animal Hide

Now, if you’re unsatisfied with the Bonegaurd armor, you can upgrade it to the Plated Boneguard using the Simple Workbench. You’ll be able to upgrade your Boneguard Armor as soon as you unlock this workbench at your castle, and you’ll need 30 Animal Hide for each piece.

The Plated Boneguard armor set offers much better protection than the regular version, as its Vest has +23.7 HP, Leggings have +20.3 HP, Gloves have +13.6, and Boots have +16.9 HP. The best part about this armor set is that it also has special buffs.

If you wear two pieces of this armor equipped on your character, your overall health will go up by 8. And once you have the complete set equipped, your physical power will get boosted by 2. In other words, you’ll survive longer in combat and damage your enemies more.

This marks the end of our V Rising best armors list. As you can see, some of these armors can be crafted at the Simple Workbench, while others will require you to first build the Tailoring Bench. In any case, we can expect the developers to add more armor to the game in the near future. Once that happens, we’ll make sure to update this list.
