It is expected to reach an even bigger audience, with the PlayStation 5 release scheduled for September 6. The Xbox version is yet to receive a release date.
Baldur’s Gate 3 stands as Steam‘s second-biggest launch of 2023. Hogwarts Legacy enjoys first place with over 879,308 peak players, and Sons of the Forest sits third with 414,257.

It has been less than 24 hours since Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, and the game has already hit its first milestone by reaching 472,136 players on Steam. It only took a few hours for it to surpass Sons of the Forest to become Steam’s second-biggest launch of 2023, and it has a monumental task of performing almost twice as big to beat Hogwarts Legacy, which stands as Steam’s biggest launch this year.

Baldur’s Gate 3 remained in early access for nearly three years and has been in development for over six years. Larian Studios and the individual developers have done an amazing job of bringing one of the greatest RPGs of all time. The fruits of their labour are visible, as even after 15 hours of release, the game still captives over 300,000 players within its rich gameplay.

There have been several other similar or even better releases, the best of which include Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and New World, all of which sit around the 1 million mark. Below that, we have Hogwarts Legacy sitting at over 879,000. Similar to some of the games mentioned, Baldur’s Gate 3 also managed to break Steam as so many people rushed to download the game.

The RPG also gained some hefty numbers on Twitch, with over 481,000 peak viewers shortly after release. Considering the massive freedom, and the many features, Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a very fun game to watch. Since the game boasts over 200 hours worth of gameplay, it will likely keep gamers busy for a good while.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to perform even better, as the game has only been released for Windows. It is slated to launch on PlayStation 5 on September 6. The game currently has no release date for Xbox, so it can take some time before Xbox fans get to enjoy this title.
