Datamine Reveals Upcoming Discord Features For PlayStation 5

A recent datamine has revealed Discord's several unique features for the PlayStation 5.

It is already known that Discord would make its way to PlayStation 5 in 2023. However, a recent datamine has revealed several more details about all the forthcoming Discord features that will be making landfall on Sony’s front-running console.

Players can already connect their PlayStation accounts with their Discord for almost a year. But, for now, linking the two accounts together does nothing more than share game activity between players that have added each other as friends on Discord.

Major Takeaways:

  • The Discord integration to the PlayStation 5 will take place in March 2023.
  • The datamine reveals that PlayStation 4 users will not able to communicate via voice chat using Discord.
  • The dataminer also shared several screenshots of the Discord mobile app related to the PlayStation integration.

In the past, it was reported by Tom Henderson, a former eXputer news reporter, that complete Discord integration for the PlayStation 5 will be arriving in March 2023.

According to the datamine, it appears that most of the features, including Discord’s screen sharing, won’t be making their way to the PlayStation 5. You’ll only be able to communicate with others using voice chat on Discord while playing on PlayStation 5.

It is also important to note that several of these features will only be available for PlayStation 5 users. PlayStation 4 users will not be able to use voice chat with Discord.

Users will also not be able to use the “Push-to-Talk” feature to communicate via voice chat while playing on a PlayStation 5 using Discord.

The datamine also revealed several images of the Discord mobile app related to the PlayStation integration.
