Forspoken Gameplay Leaks A Week Ahead Of Release

Foreboding news for Forspoken which has been receiving a lot of negative attention recently.

Story Highlights
  • Forspoken's first hour of gameplay has leaked online.
  • The leaked footage shows cutscenes, combat, and a slightly improved UI.

Forspoken is the newest IP of Square Enix, developed by Luminous Productions, who previously worked on Final Fantasy XV.

In terms of visuals, it looks pretty similar to Final Fantasy XV because it utilizes the same engine. However, it has quite a lot of differences from the title. People have been hyped up for its release, but as the release date nears, gaming titles suffering from leaks are nothing new.

Forspoken has also now suffered the same fate as many other games that have had leaks a short time before release. Recently, about an hour of Forspoken was leaked on the ResetEra forums. The original leak has since been taken down, but several mirrors and alternate links have popped up and are populating the interweb.

As can be seen, the recording is from the PlayStation 5 version of the game and clocks in just a bit above 76 minutes. There is not much to be seen here as it is the opening hour of the game. It has a few cutscenes and some combat.

The UI seems to have been improved somewhat, which is probably the result of feedback from the PS5 demo. Many had voiced their concerns over the UI, and as a result, the PS5 Forspoken demo got a surprise update in which text sizes had been adjusted, among other changes.

The video also gives us a look at some of the settings of the game, such as the video, gameplay, and accessibility settings. The leak in question shows the combat in the Easy mode of the game, so that should help people better gauge what difficulty they are going to set the game to upon release.

The “Accessibility” settings seem to be the standard settings that many games have these days. What’s interesting to note is that there is even a setting to alter how frequently the cuff speaks.

Those who have been following the game know that Frey is assisted in the game by a magical talking cuff that enables her to use magic.

Recently, God of War Ragnarok received a lot of flak for its NPCs talking too much and practically spoiling puzzle segments and ruining the experience of puzzle solving.

It is unclear how puzzles will work in Forspoken or if the cuff will even offer solutions, but if people don’t want it to speak much or if they want to release its full onslaught of voice lines, they certainly have the option.

It should also be noted that the PS5 demo takes place in a sandbox-style area where players can freely roam and accomplish some small objectives, so the leak is quite different from the demo that already exists.

It is not uncommon for games to suffer from leaks closer to release or much before that. However, it is different for Forspoken. It has been the subject of much negative attention as many have criticized the game’s dialogues and the protagonist herself.

The game is set to release on January 24, 2023, and will be arriving on the PS5 and PC platforms only currently. Gamers are certainly excited about the upcoming action RPG and should stay tuned as the review embargo lifts on January 23. Before you buy the game, you should get to know the game well.
