Upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC To Feature An Underrated Villain

The leaked DLC could provide new missions spanning hours of content.

Story Highlights

  • The upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leaked DLC will bring an unexpected and underrated villain to the game.
  • The daughter of Tombstone villain Janice Lincoln will become the Beetle in the Spider-Man 2 universe.
  • The DLC is rumored to be centered around Miles Morales and will add a heavy emphasis on his unique abilities.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 featured one of the best storylines we experienced last year. But Insomniac Games is far from done with the game. The notable insider @zvis_ceral has revealed that the devs are working on the Spider-Man 2 Beetle DLC, which is expected to be officially announced sometime in the future. It is currently known to be named “Beetle Infestation” and will feature the underrated villain Beetle that no one expected.

It is worth noting that the image used in the thumbnail of the post is just for reference and not a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 model. Nevertheless, the Imgur images reveal all the missions listed on XP rewards that players can find and complete in the DLC. A slew of new enemy types are included in the leaked game files that we will face before the villain, ranging from drones to heavy and melee enemies.

Beetle in the DLC is the Janice Lincoln version of the villain, who is likely back for revenge. She is the daughter of Tombstone, the villain we faced in the first game. The character is known for equipping herself with an advanced suit with weapons and the ability to fly. Previous Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leaks claimed the Beetle DLC would have an open-world mission and a boss fight. So, the other quests could lead toward the final encounter with her.

The action-adventure title will likely put Miles as the protagonist since Peter was said to be taking a break from his superhero duties after the end of the main storyline. It is unclear whether the DLC will introduce any new mechanics related to the boss fight.

For those unaware, Insomniac Games was recently breached by a ransomware group. The aftermath of the attack resulted in its upcoming titles and their complete release timeline being leaked. As per the leak, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has three other DLCs in the works, namely Bettle Infestation, Extreme Carnage, and Spider-Verse Anomaly. The last DLC appears to have the greatest scope out of all three.

Many other titles in the series are also in the works, like Marvel’s Venom, Spider-Man 3, a multiplayer entry, and more. Regardless, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrived on October 20, 2023, for PlayStation 5. eXputer’s Usama Mehmood awarded the game with a 4/5 review score, calling it “another incredible PlayStation exclusive.”
