Over 50 Concept Artworks For The Canceled Multiplayer Spider-Man Game Leaks Online

Many prominent characters were apparently planned for it.

Story Highlights

  • A total of 60 new concept artworks for the canceled multiplayer Spider-Man title were leaked recently.
  • These concept pieces feature a bundle of different characters and feature multiple art styles.
  • The title has been rumored to be canceled due to contradictions with Insomniac’s leaked roadmap and more.

Insomniac Games has been in murky waters ever since the massive leak, causing many of its unannounced projects to be uncovered. The online multiplayer title dubbed “Spider-Man: The Great Web” also surfaced in the process. Fans were quite enthralled by its concept after a couple of images leaked. Now, over 50 new artworks and illustrations have been found and uploaded on Imgur by the Twitter user Visceral.

Many of the art pieces depict multiple Spider Heroes and villains from the Spider-Man franchise, giving us a glimpse of an all-out battle. A few characters have also been depicted that would be playable if the game ever came out. Silk, Miles Morales, and all the other familiar faces are portrayed swinging together through the skylines of New York. Two different versions of Green Goblin can also be viewed in the leaked images.

The art styles in the images can vary from each other, with one being more of a Spider-Verse style instead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Another smaller batch of concept pieces for the canceled multiplayer title also showed a variety of characters and illustrations.

The multiplayer title was touted as the GTA Online of the Spider-Verse and wanted to feature a “Spider-Hero for every player.” However, the game is considered to be canceled and outdated. Its development has not proceeded beyond these artworks. Instead, the devs have gone ahead with Marvel’s Venom.

One proof of its cancellation is the leaked complete future timeline of games, which does not mention the game at all. Instead, multiple other games for the same IP are included. Another roadmap does state other multiplayer games across various franchises, but it also contradicts the main schedule and appears to be outdated.

The studio was hit with a ransomware attack, which is responsible for unveiling its future projects to the world. It wants to release multiple titles in Marvel’s Spider-Man and X-Man series over the decade. Some names include Marvel’s Venom, Spider-Man 3, and much more.

All of the surfaced information is always subject to change at the end of the day. These leaks by Insomniac could be outdated by the time the next Spider-Man rolls around. In other words, we may get a multiplayer entry in the franchise after all. The devs have not addressed any of the leaked details about canceled projects and the leaked images. So, these rumors are best taken with a grain of salt for now.
