Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Crosses 67,800 Steam Players, Surpassing Fallen Order

The game is hitting huge numbers despite its botched release.

Story Highlights

  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has overtaken its prequel in the peak concurrent player count on Steam with 67.8k players, despite facing frames issue on PC.
  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order reached a peak player count of 46.5k four years ago.
  • The game also had the second-best release on Steam for Star Wars games, behind Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor reached the peak concurrent player count of 67,855 on Steam, merely three days after its release. As seen on SteamDB, the game has surpassed the peak player count of its predecessor Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The title’s release on PC was overshadowed by performance issues that are unfortunately still prevalent, leading Jedi Survivor’s initial Steam reviews to be “Mostly Negative.”

But despite the bugs and optimization issues, the action-adventure title is hitting huge numbers for a Star Wars game on Steam. As with that concurrent player count, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has also had the second-biggest release on the platform for a Star Wars game. It is only behind Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga which had a peak player count of 82.5k. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was released a year ago on April 5.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor release has been spoiled by the existing performance issues, especially on PC. EA was well aware of it and to rid the game of them, its release was delayed for 6 weeks. But, as later pointed out by the reviewers who got their hands on the light-saber-fueled action adventure early, the issues were still there. Most of the problems were particular to the PC version of Jedi: Survivor, as pointed out by several reviewers.

In other news, EA has announced “weeks” of patches for the game to tackle those issues days before the title’s eventual release. The first patch was scheduled for launch day. So far, it seems the patches have not had the desired effect, at least not as much as EA expected. And the problems are still present in its PC release.

Nevertheless, the number on Steam is evidence of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s huge potential. The number is poised to reach much higher breaking the current peak player count. Hopefully, future updates will be able to fix the persisting issues on the PC variant of the game.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is out now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
