Tekken 8 Has Already Sold 2 Million Copies To Date

That, and it's also exceeded Bandai's expectations.

Story Highlights

  • Tekken is the premier fighting game franchise of Japanese industry giant Bandai Namco.
  • The latest installment in the series, Tekken 8, has just rolled over 2 million copies to date.
  • The game, coming out only late last month, has exceeded Bandai’s expectations.

Tekken 8 is the culmination of everything that the Tekken franchise has led to in terms of both scale and gameplay. As per a newly published financials report over at the Bandai Namco IR handle, it’s evident that Tekken 8 has sold more than 2 million copies over the course of its fresh release, and not just that, it has exceeded the expectations of its publisher. It’s a remarkable milestone bar none.

As reported by Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki, a Bandai Namco spokesperson confirmed that Tekken 8 sales are “better than what we’d hoped for at this point,” signaling imminent success for the title by far and large. After all, it’s only been 20 days more or less since Tekken 8 was released, and to compare it with the launch of its predecessor, Tekken 7 took about 2 months to arrive at this point in sales.

The generational leap is massive between the two games, though. Among everything else that it does right, Tekken 8 happens to be the perfect proponent of unfiltered customization, letting players work up anything that goes in their minds for their respective characters. Of course, combine that with top-tier gameplay, stunning visuals, and refined gameplay mechanics, and you’ve got a complete package with Tekken 8.
