The sales data for November 2023 has revealed that Nintendo Switch has dethroned the Xbox 360 to take the third spot in the United States’ all-time console sales. Rumors about the successor of Nintendo Switch are in full swing as we close in on the end of its lifecycle. Even with the dawn of a new system on the horizon, this hybrid system continues to set records. Moreover, it’s also responsible for contributing to the growth of portable gaming hardware, allowing stronger systems to enter the market and increase competition.

The Switch launched in 2017 as part of the eighth generation of consoles, competing against the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It has managed to sell over 132.5 million units worldwide since its initial release with the majority of its first-party games moving over twenty million copies. Even the more recent titles like last year’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet & 2023’s Tears of The Kingdom have sold over 23 million and 19 million respectively.
