Horizon Forbidden West Awarded Game Of The Year

Trekking through unforgiving landscapes and blood hungry machines, Horizon Forbidden West was set to achieve great feats.

Taking out complex and sentient machines has never been as polished as it is in Horizon Forbidden West. Using traditional means like bows and cluster bombs to whittle down large enemies or placing traps to surprise enemies, Horizon Forbidden West never overstays its welcome. It keeps producing game-changing mechanics as the campaign progresses to maintain a fresh tone.

Being a direct sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, the title opens up with the same mechanics in a new light but it slowly shows us why the title is much more than its prequel; a revamped story reaching grander heights and new weapons and coils to try out. Coupled with the abundant amount of machines, it is an experience like no other.

The only real problem players saw was the original open-world design being re-used too much. Similar to many Far Cry series and a pinch of similarity to Metro Exodus, the game seems repetitive at times. Of course, new mechanics come and go, but the open world area was more of a drag.

Aside from these problems, the title is absolutely stunning. The team put must have put in back-breaking effort to make the game look this beautiful. With all this in mind, Forbidden West was just screaming to win some awards, and it just won a major one.

The Develop:Star Awards 2022 Best Game winner was recently awarded to Horizon Forbidden West, alongside games like DEATHLOOP and Forza Horizon 5. Awards like the Best Visual Art and Best Narrative were among a few of the many given to the game in the ceremony—the page has since been deleted—but Horizon Forbidden West was given the greatest award and for good cause.

Additionally, Guerilla Games, the developer behind the game, also won the Best Studio award. It’s still to be seen which title will win the most awards. However, no matter what happens at any award ceremony, it won’t change the fact that Horizon Forbidden West is and will remain a great game that has been released this year.
