Story Highlights
- Stellar Blade is an exceptionally alluring new PS5 exclusive that was supposed to come out this year.
- As per a new post on the PlayStation Blog, it seems Stellar Blade will be released sometime next year.
- The game is under development by Shift Up—a relatively new studio in the realm of AAA games.
Stellar Blade has PlayStations fans excited to the core, and rightfully so after showing itself off to the world in remarkable fashion during 2022’s State of Play. Unfortunately, word has been scarce on the game’s release since then, with only a 2023 release window provided at the time of the game’s premiere trailer. Now, however, a recent update on the PlayStation Blog confirms that the game is coming in 2024.
While Stellar Blade is Korean developer Shift Up’s first console title, the adventure is looking promising indeed. Stellar Blade is an action-adventure game making its way to PlayStation 5 next year. This hack n’ slash title puts players in control of the stylish heroine Eve, as she takes on the Naytibas, a force ravaging Earth while surviving humans escape to an outer space colony,” describes the new post on the PlayStation Blog.
It bears mentioning that Stellar Blade started life as Project Eve, a multi-platform game that was slated to arrive for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC by Korean developer Shift Up. The devs had even released a teaser trailer for Project Even (thanks Gematsu) in 2019, but things didn’t go according to that plan. Not long ago, a translated article on GameChosun revealed that Sony signed a contract with Shift Up that landed it the exclusivity it was gunning for on its platform.
In any case, I’m really looking forward to how this game will play out. Watching the story trailer, it’s hard to ignore how the title is giving off NieR: Automata vibes, especially with the soundtrack playing in the background. Oh, and as per the PlayStation Store page of Stellar Blade, the game is set to receive a physical release, which is all the better.

Just like this year, 2024 seems packed with a number of other top-tier releases including Helldivers 2, which was announced during the last State of Play, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Foamstars, and many more enthralling IPs that are not just limited to PlayStation. And right after that year, we’ve got Grand Theft Auto 6 coming up in 2026. Fun times ahead.
