Story Highlights
- Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest iteration in the Mortal Kombat series, released in late 2023.
- The game’s latest patch fixed the Kombat League desync issues, but only on PC at the time.
- Now, the same update has carried over to consoles as well, specifically the Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the reimagining of the long-running Mortal Kombat franchise and a solid one at that, I must say. In recent times, the PC version of the game was patched with a fix for the persistent desync issue that plagued the Kombat League experience for players, skipping console players at the time. Now, NetherRealm Studios has brought the same fix to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well.
The patch notes are fairly small-scale, but certainly mighty for those who’ve been trying to enjoy the competitive in-game mode to the full, as listed below. Desyncs previously occurred and barred players from finding other players in Kombat League sets, so playability was extremely halted, right down to the point of sheer frustration. Players took to forums online to report the issue to the higher-ups.
- Fixed a desync that occurs during Kombat League sets.
- Adjusted the timing of the match found audio cue.
WB Support first clocked the issue on December 21, 2023, when it updated its official support page with an acknowledgment of the matter, saying “We are aware of the issues with desyncs in Kombat League and are actively looking to resolve this as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.” A fix was issued accordingly for PC players thereafter.
In other news, Mortal Kombat got another character reveal early last month — Quan Chi — thereby ticking another figure off of the Kombat Pack that the game is promised to encompass as the months go by. So far, Omni-Man, Homelander, Peacemaker, and said character have been revealed, with Takeda and Ermac still left to go. Ed Boon has also planned a “big surprise” for MK1 in the near-future; fingers crossed for whatever that is.
