The Lich Dragon Fortissax is one of the most anticipated bosses in Elden Ring, which is for a good reason since Dragon incantations are powerful spells that can aid you along the way. Some of the best incantations, especially the dragon ones, can be unlocked after offering the Dragon Hearts at the Church of Dragon Communion and the Cathedral of Dragon Communion. This legendary Dragon requires a quest to be unlocked and can be quite difficult to find, so I have put together a step-by-step guide on the location of Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring.

Lichdragon Fortissax Location in Elden Ring

To locate the Lichdragon Fortissax, you will have to locate its dungeon, which lies in the Deeproot Depths. However, it won’t spawn unless you have completed the quest for Fia. And in order to find his dungeon, you will also have to talk to Ranni. In short, you will have to complete two quests for the Lichdragon Fortissax to spawn.

In order to complete Fia’s questline, you will be needing a key item called the Cursemark Of Death. For that, you will have to complete NPC Ranni’s questline.

Completing Prince Of Death Quest

In order to unlock the path to Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring, I followed the following steps:

1. Find a strange face near a bloodstain in Stormveil Castle’s underground.
2. Talk to Sorcerer Rogier in the Church and take him to Roundtable Hold to discuss the corpse. Obtain the Black Knife Clue by discussing secrets with Deathbed Companion Fia.
3. Head to the Black Knife Catacomb, north of Carian Study Hall in Liurnia of the Lakes, using guillotine traps to reach the upper hallway.
4. Discover an illusory wall in the Black Knife Catacomb to reveal the hidden boss, Black Knife Assassin. Defeat Black Knife Assassin to progress in the quest and unlock access to Lichdragon Fortissax’s location.
5. After defeating Lichdragon Fortissax, receive the Assassins Cerulean Dagger Talisman and Black Knife Print. Give the Black Knife Print to Sorcerer Rogier.
6. Return the Weathered Dagger key item to D, Hunter of the Dead, in Roundtable Hold. Fia leaves Roundtable Hold after completing these steps.

This sequence of events will lead you to the location of Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring.

Finding the Deeproot Depths

To reach the Deeproot Depths and continue your journey to find Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring, I suggest following these steps:

1. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at Redmane Castle located in Caelid. This will create a massive crater in the South Of Mistwood, leading to Nokron Eternal City. If you need help defeating Radahn, you can refer to the Elden Ring Radahn cheese method guide.
2. Once in Nokron, enter the cave located in Nokron Eternal City. This cave will lead you to the Valiant Gargoyles Boss and is situated in the Ancestral Woods. Defeat the boss.
3. After defeating the Valiant Gargoyles Boss, use the coffin located on the ledge. This action will transport you to the Deeproot Depths, which is directly underneath Leyndell, the Royal Capitol.
4. Traverse through the Deeproot Depths until you reach the Prince of Death’s Throne area.
5. Fia, who had disappeared from the Roundtable Hold, will reappear at the Prince of Death’s throne area. Defeat Fia’s champions, then choose the option “Talk in Secret” to initiate a conversation with her.
6. To proceed, you will need to give Fia the Cursemark of Death. This is where Ranni’s questline comes into play, as it is crucial for reaching the location of Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring.

Completing Ranni’s Quest

Give Black Knife print to Sorcerer Rogier. Talk to him again for meeting with NOC Ranni at Caria Manor in the north of Academy of Raya Lucaria. Find key item.

For completing the Ranni’s Quest, I did the following:

• Talk to Iji and Seluvis. Proceed to Nokron, the Eternal City.
• Move across the roofs on the right side and use the left building as a crossing point.
• Enter the left building and drop down to the Site of Grace. Head to the building on the right and descend the stairs.
• Run to the right until you reach a statue. Turn left and continue straight.
• Take another left and enter the bushes.
• Find a hidden path behind the hills and drop down to Night’s Sacred Ground.
• Inside the main building, climb the stairs. Locate the Fingerslayer Blade beneath the giant corpse throne.
• Return to Ranni and give her the key item. Receive the Carian Inverted statue from Ranni.

Completing Fia’s Quest to Find Lichdragon Fortissax

Proceed to the Carian Study Hall and place the Carian Inverted statue on the Table of Lost Grace. Then, go up the stairs and jump onto the ledge. Run along the building’s ledge and drop down onto the chandelier. From there, drop down onto the circular elevator and descend using it. Move forward past the gate to reach another Site of Grace, where you can rest and replenish your energy if needed.

• Continue running straight down and enter the tower in front of you.
• Utilize the lift to ascend and climb the stairs to reach the roof.
• In the center of the roof, you will find the Cursemark of Death.
• Present the Cursemark of Death to Fia at the Prince of Death’s throne.
• Talk to Fia three times after giving her the cursemark, leaving and returning each time.
• On your third and final visit, you will encounter the option “Enter the Deathbed Dream.”

Defeating Lichdragon Fortissax In Elden Ring

Defeating the Lichdragon Fortissax in Elden Ring can be challenging, but with the right strategies, you can emerge victorious. These are some tips I would recommend for this epic battle:

1. Understand the Moveset: As with many bosses, Fortissax has a repetitive moveset. Familiarize yourself with its attacks, which include lightning bolts, electric waves, fire breath, and aerial dives.
2. Melee Weapons: Choose powerful melee weapons for this fight. Weapons like the Moonlight Greatsword are effective for dealing significant damage to the dragon.
3. Dodging Aerial Attacks: Be especially cautious when Fortissax takes to the air for its aerial attack. It’s fast and can be hard to dodge, so be prepared to evade its charge.
4. Target Weak Points: Focus your attacks on the dragon’s legs and tail to deal damage. These are its weak points, and consistent strikes will whittle down its health.
5. Spirit Ashes: Consider summoning Spirit Ashes to aid you in the battle. They can provide additional damage and distractions, giving you an advantage.
6. Resistance Against Lightning: Equip talismans or gear that increase your resistance against lightning attacks, as Fortissax heavily relies on lightning-based moves.
7. Dragon Blight Coating: In the second phase of the fight, use Dragon Blight Coating on your weapon to increase your damage output and defeat Fortissax more quickly.

Defeat the boss and gain the Remembrance that will help you build boss weapons using the Finger Reader. Do not forget to check Fia and gain the Mending Rune of the Prince of Death. This Rune of Restoration can restore the shattered Elden Ring when wielded by The Elden Lord.

My Tips On Beating Lichdragon Fortissax

Below are the tips that I recommend for defeating Lichdragon Fortissax:

Lichdragon Fortissax is one of the trickiest bosses to fight if you’re not leveled properly in Elden Ring. Usually, you won’t have enough HP to fight it and dodge all attacks rationally, so it’s best if you try to tank damage by getting your HP up to a very high level, but be sure to dodge his electric arts.

Weapons that have shorter attack animations work best, as the boss likes to keep moving around very swiftly. Attacking on the head deals significantly higher damage as compared to the body, so that can be used very effectively during the fight. Finally, make sure you’re wearing Lightning-resistant armor to minimize damage taken from the dragon’s Lightning attacks.
