Elden Ring: Mausoleum Not Working [SOLVED]

Learn how to get past the Mausoleum Not Working issue by Using the Correct Variation and Not Resting before Interacting with a Mausoleum.

Update: This bug was addressed in Patch 1.04 by FromSoftware.

Many players have been unable to replicate remembrances at a Mausoleum in Elden Ring, hinting they might not be working as they should. This bug can occur for many reasons, including not destroying all the skull-like structures, using the wrong Mausoleum, or resting at a grace site before using one.

But there is no need to worry as I have a few solutions to get you going.

Key Takeaways

Here are some ways that can help you overcome the problem:

  1. Use Correct Mausoleums.
  2. Do not rest at a Grace Site after clearing one.

Use Correct Mausoleums

If you are observant, you may have found that the Mausoleums, despite seeming so, do not look the same. Elden Ring has seven Mausoleums, but only five have a bell underneath them. This would mean that the two Mausoleums without a bell have a different purpose, no? And you would be right.

The five with a bell beneath them can duplicate any remembrance. You can use them regardless of whether the remembrance is from a shardbearer or a side boss. However, the ones without a bell can only duplicate the remembrances of shard-less side bosses such as Maliketh The Black Blade.

  • Tip: There are only 5 Mausoleums that can replicate a shardbearer’s remembrance. So, plan your playthrough wisely.

Overlooking this is easy. Many people did, in fact, and had to find another one. So, If a Mausoleum is also not working for you in Elden Ring, it is probably because it is a bell-less one, and you are trying to do the impossible. So, all you need to do is locate another Mausoleum, and if it has a bell, you are good to go.

Do Not Rest At A Grace Site After Clearing One

Elden Ring doesn’t allow you to access a Mausoleum until you have broken all the skull-like structures around it. With that said, missing a few is also hilariously easy. I know because I have also spent a few hours puzzled, only to find I missed one.

So, make sure that all of them are dust before trying your luck at one. Once you are done with that, do not rest at a grace site. Why? Because those same structures you destroyed respawn. This is a bug, meaning the game doesn’t store this progress.

So, you have to interact with the Mausoleum as soon as you break those skull-like structures. If you don’t do this and, instead, save your game, you will have to redo it again. While this is frustrating, it is something you have to keep in mind for now.

My Thoughts On Mausoleum Not Working In Elden Ring

Elden Ring is my favorite souls-like game, and with Shadow of the ErdTree right around the corner, I can’t wait to jump back in. However, as good as it is, the game launched with many bugs. While none of these were game-breaking, the Mausoleums simply refusing to work was an annoying one out of the bunch.

The issue was widespread, with reports being made on GameFAQs, Reddit, and Steam. However, adding to the frustration, the Official Elden Ring Twitter handle remained silent on the problem.

However, the bug was handled in Patch 1.04. But despite this, the issue remains at large for some players. Therefore, if you are still one of those tarnished ones, this guide will get you back on track. Plus, you won’t have much of a problem, considering the fixes that I detailed are pretty straightforward.

But if, for whatever reason, they still do not work. I would advise you to report it directly to Bandai Namco’s Support Team. Be descriptive and wait for them to get back in a few hours.
