What Are Sub Camps In Monster Hunter Rise?
The Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Sub Camp is a structure that acts like a Base Camp or Main Camp. However, they are smaller in size and are well hidden in the maps so, which makes them harder to locate. The Sub Camps have all the features of the Main Camp except for a few exceptions.
The Sub Camps are mainly used to fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise. However, they also can be used to eat food, improve or swap your gear, and make use of the Buddy Board. Now that we have acquired a basic understanding of the Sub Camps, we will discuss how you can utilize each feature efficiently.
The most useful feature that you will be using the most probably is the Fast Traveling ability of the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Sub Camp. This feature will help you to follow through a farming route or to farm the monsters more effectively as you can travel between the farming spots instantly.
Another very useful feature of the Monster Hunter Rise Sub Camp is that you can eat food at the Sub Camp if, for some reason, you forgot to eat from the Main Camp Canteen. At the Sub Camp, you can enjoy every type of food that is available at the canteen. However, you can not benefit from the Daily Specials as they are unavailable in the Sub Camp.
Next, you can also access your Item Box at the Sub camp, which means that you can change your gear and access any type of items, weapons, decorations, and armor that you might have stored in the Item Box.
The Sub Camp is so generous that it gives you access to your buddies in case you forgot to set them before your hunt at the Main camp. This feature is offered to you through the Buddy Board, which gives you full access to your Buddies.
Supply Boxes In Sub Camps
Unfortunately, the only feature that we think should have also been included in the Sub Camp is not available in the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Sub Camp. However, this was expected as they had to make the Sub Camps a bit different than the Main Camp.
Unfortunately, this also means that you can not deliver heavy items at the Sub Camps; instead, you will have to travel to the Main Camp to return the heavy items. Also, at the Monster Hunter Rise Sub Camp, you can not receive the free items that you are rewarded with after completing a quest.
How To Unlock A Sub Camp
Normally, when you start your hunt in Monster Hunter Rise, the game will start you off at the bottom of the map, meaning you will have to travel to your desired location on a palamute or foot. However, the developers have placed up to two Sub Camps to make it convenient to fast travel around the map.
These Sub Camps are usually very well hidden in Monster Hunter Rise, and to unlock these Sub Camps for your convenience, you must first find them. Once you have located the Sub Camp, you will be given a quest by the Kagero the Merchant upon returning to the village.
Next, you will have to complete the quest, which revolves around two main tasks. Either you will have to slay some monsters, or you might have to deliver some specific materials to the merchant. The monsters and materials depend on which Sub Camp you try to unlock. After completing the quest, you will unlock the Sub Camp as a fast traveling point.
How To Fast Travel Through The Sub Camps
Now, to fast travel in the game through the Sub Camp, you will have first to open the fast travel menu in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. This can be done by holding the minus button “-” and then pressing “A” to open the fast travel menu.
Now, you just have to select the Sub Camp that you want to travel to, given that it has been unlocked. Once you select your destination, the game will hop you on a wire bug and fly you to your desired destination.
Monster Hunter Rise All Sub Camps Locations
Now, we will be discussing each of the locations of the Sub Camps on every map, including the all-new Sunbreak expansion maps. The maps of Sub Camps in Monster Hunter Rise that we will be discussing are:
- Shrine Ruins
- Frost Islands
- Sandy Plains
- Flooded Forests
- Lava Caverns
The Shrine Ruins is a map with only one Sub Camp located on a mountain near a lake that is in zone 10. The Sub Camp is in a hollowed-out spot on top of the mountain. To reach the Sub Camp, you will have to use a wirebug as it is not possible to climb the mountain any other way.
The Kagero’s quest for this Sub Camp is a security quest where you will have to slay 8 Izuchis in the Shrine Ruins map. After completing the above requirements, you will fully unlock the above Sub Camp to use it to its full potential. The Sub Camp is in the Shrine Ruins map of Monster Hunter Rise, as mentioned before, which means that it is a Sub Camp of the basic game.
The Frost Islands map in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak has a total of two Sub Camps. The first one is located in zone 6 inside a pit to the northeast. The Kagero’s quest for the Sub Camp is another security quest where you will have to eliminate 8 Zamite in the Frost Islands map to unlock the Sub Camp.
Next, Sub Camp is located in zone 8 of the map. It is in between zone 8 and zone 10, and it is another Sub Camp for which you will require a wirebug to reach because it is on top of a mountain. The Kagero’s quest for the second Sub Camp is a materials quest where you will have to supply Kagero with 2 Warm Pelts and 4 Monster Bone S.
For your ease, we will give you a general idea of how to acquire these items. Now, to acquire Warm Pelts, you will have to carve either a Kelbi or an Anteka. While for the Monster Bone S, you will have to loot bone piles in the Low-rank areas of the maps. After completing Kagero’s quest, you will unlock the Sub Camp for your convenience.
Now, Sandy Plains also has a total of two Sub Camps. Where the first Sub Camp is located in zone 7 in between zone 2, zone 3, and zone 7. Next, to unlock the Sub Camp, you will have to complete Kagero’s quest, which is another security quest. However, this time you will have to slay a total of 8 Kestodon on the Sandy Plains map.
The next Sub Camp on the Sandy Plains map is located in a valley in zone 8 towards the east side. However, to unlock the Sub Camp, you will have to complete Kagero’s materials quest. The quest requires you to supply Kagero with 1 Lagmobi Pelt and 2 Monster Bone M.
The Flooded Forest map in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak has only one Sub Camp, which is located in zone 11. Flooded Forest Sub Camp is located in a hollow on top of a mountain towards the east. Next, to unlock the Sub Camp, you will have to complete Kagero’s security quest, where this time, you will have to eliminate 8 Wroggi in the Flooded Forest map.
Now, for the last map of the Monster Hunter Rise base game, which is the Lava Caverns, where there are a total of two Sub Camps. The first Sub Camp is situated in zone 6 on the ravine’s left side and between zone 6, zone 7, and zone 3.
Also, the Sub Camp is around some ruins on a mountain. Now, to unlock the Sub Camp in the discussion, you will have to complete Kagero’s material quest. The quest requires you to deliver a Tetranadon Hide and 2 Monster Bone’s L.
Furthermore, the second Sub Camp is located in zone 10 on the northeast side of the volcano on the edge of the mountain between zone 10 and zone 11. The Kagero’s security quest for the Sub Camp is to eliminate 8 Uroktor.
Now, we will discuss the Sub Camps that you will come across in the Sunbreak DLC of Monster Hunter Rise. The first new map that was included in the expansion was the Jungle map, where there is only one Sub Camp. The Sub Camp is located in zone 8 in the center of the map.
To unlock Jungle Sub Camp, you will have to complete a Kagero’s quest just like in the base game. This time you will have to complete a security quest where you will have to slay 8 Hermitaur in the new Jungle map.
The last Sub Camp on our list is on the Citadel map, which is also another Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Sub Camp. There is one Sub Camp in Citadel around the zone 5.
The Sub Camp is located in a place through the zone 5 cave entrance. Now, to unlock the Sub Camp, you will have to complete the Kagero’s security quest, where you will have to slay 8 Boggi in Citadel’s vicinity.
With this, we bring our Monster Hunter Rise All Sub Camps guide to an end where we discussed every possible Sub Camp in the game. We also included a detailed description of how the Sub Camps work and how to unlock each one. Also, we included the new Sub Camps as well.

Other Game Tips
Monster Hunter Rise is a game that is divided into several maps that are usually not very large. And with the new Sunbreak Expansion came new maps, thus new Sub Camps. However, you still would not want to run across the entirety of the map. That is why the developers added a structure to the game called the Monster Hunter Rise Sub Camp. The Sub Camp is a structure that is a point you can use to fast travel to and from. However, it is not as simple as unlocking it by just finding it.
Monster Hunter Rise is a very combat-based game, so the main focus is more or less always on Farming Money, acquiring Best Weapons, and Best Armor. The game also offers some unique builds to enjoy, like the ever-mighty Long Sword Build, Dual Blade Build, Heavy Bowgun Build, Hammer Build, and Great Sword Build.
If you can not decide on a build for yourself, then read our Builds Guide to get a better understanding of some of the builds. If you choose the Heavy Bowgun Build, why not look at the Best Heavy Bowguns.
Now, if you were trying to level up faster in Monster Hunter Rise, then try farming materials like Gold Lite Ore, Fucium Ore, Awegite Ore, Thunder Sac, and Inferno Sac.
