Far Cry 6 Can Now Be Played On Xbox Game Pass

The massive Ubisoft RPG goes free-to-play with the subscription service.

Story Highlights

  • Far Cry 6 is a first-person shooter by Ubisoft, set in an open world with diverse RPG mechanics.
  • The game has recently been added to Xbox Game Pass, along with a number of other titles.
  • The announcement of Far Cry 6 heading to Xbox Game Pass was dropped on November 30, 2023.

As promised by the folks higher up on November 30, Far Cry 6 lands on Xbox Game Pass today, the action-packed shooter from Ubisoft with deep-dyed RPG mechanics and a focus on exploration. The official Xbox news channel reported late last month that a number of games would head to the subscription service in December on specified dates. Far Cry 6’s number is up as of right now.

Feel free to get into the first-person shooter on all three Xbox-centric platforms, including the Series X|S consoles, PC via PC Game Pass, and xCloud—the company’s very own cloud gaming venture rivaling the likes of Nvidia GeForce Now and others, though currently in beta phase. It bears mentioning that Far Cry 6 is only one of the multiple Ubisoft titles that are accessible via Game Pass. Here is a list of the rest:

  • Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Far Cry 6
  • For Honor (Marching Fire Expansion)
  • Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Watch Dogs 2

Prior to the official announcement, Far Cry 6 was rumored to make landfall on Game Pass by reliable leaker billbil-kun on X (formerly Twitter), who happened to disclose the rest of the subscription’s December entries as well, including Remnant 2, Remnant: From the Ashes, and others. In terms of the games that are on their way out, 4 titles have left Game Pass this month—Chained Echoes, Opus Magnum, and two more.

In other important news, Ubisoft has stopped further work on Far Cry 6 in the name of updates and other post-launch content. Although players will be able to enjoy its online features steadily, don’t expect more playable stuff coming to the shooter. This, however, does insinuate that Far Cry 7 could be on the horizon soon enough, given that multiple rumors surrounding the project have also started to spring up.
