NBA 2K24 Gets Its Biggest Update Since Release

Patch notes for NBA 2K24‘s recent next-gen update have been unveiled, revealing a long list of bug fixes, adjustments, and changes to improve the state of the game further. These patch notes will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and in terms of quantity, it is undoubtedly the most significant update we have had since the game’s release. While the release date has not been given yet, players should be notified eventually.

NBA 2K24 Season 2 will launch on October 20 at 8 AM PT; more details on which will be shared in the future. As for the general changes, the UI has received several enhancements across all modes to provide a better experience. The update will significantly improve the face scan results and its stability when players use the MyNBA2K companion app.

An issue that prevented assigning some previously equipped layups and dunk animations has been fixed. Players should no longer experience a hang when editing tattoos in the “Create A Player” menu. Music, crowd, commentary, and ambient audio should now be heard as intended in player control games in “Play Now Online.” Players should be able to change the unit of measurement properly as intended.

The sponsor patch on the Utah Jazz uniforms has been updated, and the letter spacing on the New York Liberty uniforms should be more accurate. 2002 Los Angeles Lakers shorts have also become more accurate by removing the team logo. The 1992 Philadelphia 76ers uniform now has a precise colour to that of the original. As for the 1983 Denver Nuggets, the NBA logo has been added to the team’s uniform.

Various NBA arenas now have more courtside VIPs. Errant Playoffs/Finals logos have been removed in the 1990s Magic arena. Boston Celtics’ historic arena floors have seen colour corrections to improve accuracy. Moreover, several current-day courts have received design changes to make them precise. Many players have also had general likeness updates and adjustments, the list of which is available on NBA 2K Community Discord.

Improvements For Mamba Moments & MyTeam

When players have unclaimed Season Level Awards, they will now see a notification icon to the Seasons in their MyTeam Home Tab. Triple Threat modes will now use the same score overlay as MyTeam modes. In multiplayer games, green-release camera cuts have been turned off. Moreover, multiplayer modes now have reduced pauses and timeouts:

  • Ultimate (5 Timeouts – 6 Pauses)
  • Salary Cap (3 Timeouts – 4 Pauses)
  • Clutch Time Online (2 Timeouts – 4 Pauses)
  • Triple Threat Online (4 Pauses)

Additionally, the timeout length of Unlimited and Salary Cap modes has been changed to 30 seconds. Automatic substitutions should now respect the player card’s primary and secondary position. Moreover, the In-game Coach Boosts system will now have new triggers and should no longer crash/restart the game. Head coaches and coaching staff won’t wear a dress in suits in MyTeam games.
