Diablo 4: How To Get A Mount [Types & Skills]

Learn everything you need about all type of mounts and their skills based on my experience.

Diablo 4 has a big map, and no one wants to keep walking on foot as it is both tedious and tiring. Therefore, I recommend knowing about how to get a mount in Diablo 4, which is basically a horse. With a mount, you can cover more land in a shorter period.

Before You Start: Make sure you are at Act 4 since the Donan’s Favor Quest cannot be completed before.
Key Takeaways
  • To acquire the first mount in Diablo 4, complete the Donan’s Favor Quest in Act 4.
  • Follow these steps: Find Donan, return to the Stable Master, and finish the quest to unlock the mount.
  • Access the Stable and obtain the Old Nell Steed.
  • The stable allows players to equip, select, and purchase mounts.
  • Diablo 4 features a total of 32 mounts, each with a unique unlocking method.
  • Customize mounts using Mount Trophies (47 total) and Mount Bardings (42 total).
  • There are seven mount skills, two universal and five exclusive to specific classes.

Quest To Get A Mount In Diablo 4

Ways of Getting a Mount [Screenshot Captured by eXputer]
During your journey, you may get hints on getting a horse in Diablo 4. However, you will not be able to get one until you have completed half of the story. Once you reach Act 4 of Diablo 4, you will come across Donan’s Favor Quest found in Kyovashad.

To complete the quest, you will need to:

  1. Find Donan, who seems to be an important NPC.
  2. Go back to the Stable Master.
  3. Finish the Quest and unlock your first mount.

If you ask me, the Mount you get from the quest is a pretty basic one. However, you can get more after it, so it’s worth it.

Method Of Unlocking Each Mount

For each mount, there is a different approach when it comes to unlocking them.

Therefore, here’s how you can get each mount:

After you get a mount, you will then have access to stables. Each stable has its own NPC. You can equip, pick, and buy mounts by talking to these NPCs. I personally like the Spectral Charger, so I would recommend getting that.

Cosmetics For Mounts

It is important to know that cosmetics do not affect the gameplay in any way. Therefore, you have the freedom to select any type of Mount Trophie or Mount Bardings. There are a total of forty-seven Mount Trophies and forty-two Mount Bardings in Diablo 4. However, you need to take an extra step in unlocking these cosmetics.

Mount Trophies

The Mount Trophies are basically the trophies that will be hanging on the rear side of your horse. You can use it to show off your achievements. Moreover, you can use it to warn others who dare to attack you.

Diablo 4: Mount Skills
Skills of Mounts [Image Captured by eXputer]
After you get a mount, you will discover some skills you can use with a mount to gain an advantage in a fight or be more efficient. In total, there is a total of seven skills, and each skill has its own cooldown period. Moreover, only two skills are available for all classes in Diablo 4; the other five are available for one class each.

The mount skills are as follows:

  • Spur – All Classes: allows you to move your mount faster.
  • Dismount – All Classes: lets you jump off the mount.
  • Bounding SlamBarbarian Class only: lets Barbarian pummel the ground twice after leaping from the mount. Deals 75% extra damage while stunning enemies. Requires a two-handed weapon.
  • VolleyRogue Class only: unleashes a volley of arrows after leaping from the mount, dealing 70% more damage. Requires a ranged weapon.
  • PummelDruid Class only: Shifts into a werebear and slams the ground, dealing 140% more damage while knocking down enemies for two and a half seconds.
