The Ultima Weapon cannot be unlocked in a normal playthrough. To unlock it, you must first complete FF16 and unlock New Game+. Once you have unlocked the New Game+, you need to select the Final Fantasy difficulty. Now if you head over to the Forge, you can see the Ultima Weapon in the options.

There are a total of 3 items that are required to craft the Final Fantasy 16 Ultima Weapon.

The Utterance of Creation does not require any extra side quest, farming, or efforts to acquire it. All you need to do is complete the main story in your first playthrough. Once you start New Game+, it will already be in your inventory.

The Everdark is one of the best weapons in Final Fantasy 16. It is an essential item for the creation of the Ultima Weapon. It does not require you to do any side quest. If you have been progressing the story and forging new weapons, then you can forge this with ease. You need the following items for Everdark Reforged.

Gotterdammerung Reforged

The Gotterdammerung is another one of the best weapons. Moreover, it is the 3rd item you will need to create the Ultima Weapon. However, the acquisition of Gotterdammerung is not as easy as the previous two items. To forge it, you must complete the Blacksmith’s Blues side quest. There are four parts to the quest. But the most essential part of the quest is the fourth one.
Before You Start: You need to finish the first three parts of the Blacksmith’s Blues side quest as well as the Across the Narrow main quest to be able to start this quest.
Once you have finished the Blacksmith’s Blues side quest, you will be rewarded with the weapon named Ragnarok. It is an essential item to make Gotterdammerung and hence, making it essential for the Ultima Weapon. The following are the rest of the items required to craft Gotterdammerung.
Important: All of these items are obtained from Hunts, so you must know All Hunt Locations as well in order to acquire the necessary crafting materials.
- Orichalcum x3. You can obtain them by defeating Atlas, Svarog, and Gorgimera.
- Flawless Darksteel x2. They can be obtained by defeating Thanatos and the Prince of Death.
- Flawless Battlehorn x1. You can only get it by defeating Gobermouch.
With all of the materials crafted and ready, all you need to do is go to the Forge, where you can ask the Blacksmith to craft the Ultima Weapon. Hence, now you can use the best and most powerful weapon in FF16. This makes the Final Fantasy difficulty much more bearable. If you don’t want to do extra side quests, then the Everdark is also a great weapon alternative.
