There are 13 Cairn Dungeons in Hogwarts Legacy. You will come across some dungeons during specific quests. Moreover, Cairn Dungeons are highly rewarding due to being vast and filled with dangerous foes.

There are a total of 13 Cairn Dungeons and exploring each of them will earn you The Intrepid Explorer achievement. However, some Cairn Dungeons are only available through specific quests. Here is the location of All Cairn Dungeons in Hogwarts Legacy:

The Coastal Mine

You can go there and freely explore this Cairn Dungeon, as it is very easy to spot. Hidden behind a door, The Coastal Mine is located in the Marunween Lake region.

The Collector’s Cave

This is the first Cairn Dungeon you will come across as it is part of The Helm of Urtkot main quest. However, to get this main quest, you will need to reach level 12 and acquire Depulso Spell, which unlocks after completing Professor Sharp’s Assignment I.

Feldcroft Catacomb

Unlocks in the relationship quest of Sebastian Sallow: In the Shadow of Time, where you will unlock one of the unforgivable curses available in Hogwarts Legacy. However, you will have to complete Professor Weasley’s Assignment, which gives you the Transformation Spell. This spell is a must as it will help you in future Chess Puzzles.

Dale Family Tomb

This Cairn Dungeon is unlocked during a side quest: Beeting a Curse. To open the side quest, you will have to complete Charles Rookwood Trial’s main quest. After you start the Beeting a Curse quest, you will just have to go and talk to Samantha Dale in the Herbology greenhouses.

Tomb Of Treachery

You will need to have access to the bottom of the map to access this Cairn Dungeon in Hogwarts Legacy. You just need to unlock the floo flame and you will find the Cairn Dungeon on its side.

Moonstone Garden

You need to complete The Centaur and the Stone relationship quest given by Poppy Sweeting to get this cairn dungeon. However, you need to complete the Surprise Meeting relationship quest also given by Poppy Sweeing, and In the Shadow of the Mountain main quest given by Sebastian Sallow to unlock the quest for Cairn Dungeon. The Moonstone Garden Cairn Dungeon is located at Feldcroft Region at the west of Irondale.

Jackdaw’s Tomb

This cairn dungeon is also easy to locate and you can freely explore this cairn dungeon without doing any quests. The Jackdaw’s Tomb is located in the Forbidden Forest.

The Mine’s Eye

To unlock this cairn dungeon, you will need to progress and get the “It’s All Gobbledegook” main quest.

When you head to Hogwarts Valley, you will have to enter the goblin mine, which can be opened by using a disillusionment spell just like an eyeball chest in Hogwarts Legacy.

After opening the door, you will have access to The Mine’s Eye. When you will head inside, you will find one of Ranrok’s Loyalist Sentinel. They are powerful and can go head to head with the powerful wizards and witches. It is recommended to use Bombarda while they are charging their magic.

Overlook Mine

Head to Upper Hogsfield in Hogsmeade Valley to locate this cairn dungeon, which is unlocked at night during the In the Shadow of the Mine quest given by Sebastian Sallow. The Overlook Mine surprisingly has a lot of spider’s webs, and you will need a fire spell like Confringo or Incendio to burn those webs Moreover, this dungeon is very dark, use Lumos, so you don’t miss out on any chest inside.

Spinners Cavern

This cairn dungeon can be unlocked by starting “The Plight of the House-Elf” side quest. Professor Weasley will send you a letter through Owl Post saying that Deek needs a favor from you. Deek will be in Room of Requirement.

Once you go there and talk to him, Deek will ask you to test your newly acquired gear in the Spinners Cavern and also check up on his friend Tobbs. The Spinners Cavern is infested with spiders, and you will fight with giant spiders there.

Tower Tunnel

This cairn dungeon is located at Marunweem Lake at Tower Tunnel. 

Horklump Hollow

This cairn dungeon is located in the Upper Hogsfield of Hogsmeade Valley. The chest in the end doesn’t reward you much, as it only gives you 20 coins.

Phoenix Moutain Cave

You will get access to this cairn dungeon during the Phoenix Rising side quest. However, to unlock the Phoenix Rising side quest, you must complete the previous Deek quest: Foal of the Dead, and the main quest Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial. Moreover, you must reach level 20 to begin this quest. The cairn dungeon is located at Poidsear Coast at Phoenix Mountain Cave.
