Baldur’s Gate 3’s Persistent Xbox Save Issue Finally Fixed

Players have been tackling the hassle since one whole month.

Story Highlights

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the top RPGs to grace the gaming industry last year by Larian Studios.
  • The game’s Xbox version has been severely suffering a save glitch that erased people’s progress.
  • After a lengthy period of frustration, that issue has now been taken care of via a new build update.

Baldur’s Gate 3, an otherwise great RPG, and easily one of the greatest in that regard, has been bothering Xbox players for about a month now over a save-related glitch that made players end up with lost progress. Larian has been trying to mitigate the issue, but it turned out that the problem was on Xbox’s end right from the get-go. Nevertheless, the matter has been taken care of starting today, with Xbox rolling out a system update that fixes the hassle.

It’s been advised to manually update your Xbox Series X|S console if you can’t wait for the patch to roll out automatically “within the next week.” It’s the “2311” build that you should be looking out for when bringing your system up to speed. At long last, Xbox players can now breathe a little easier, knowing their hard-earned progress won’t be ditching them as soon as they shut their game down.

Sifting through the r/BaldursGate3 subreddit, the oldest post I could that spreads awareness of the save issue on Xbox dates back to December 9, and apparently, it’s been a long while for the fix to finally arrive. With that being said, there are still concerns within the community, with many saying that it’s too early to determine whether the issue was finally resolved or not.

The update may be out but obviously it’s a little early to declare that the issue is definitely fixed. They released an update previously as well which was supposed to fix it but didn’t,” comments u/Moonlord_, referring to a hotfix release for Baldur’s Gate 3 that promised to tend to the matter, but ended up bringing substandard results.

On a side note, though, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been splendid on other platforms, raking in positive feedback from around the spectrum. Not only did it win the prestigious Game of the Year award at TGA last year, it ended the event as the singular title with the most GOTY awards won. Incredible. I also reported in another of my recent articles that Larian’s latest venture has topped off 2023 as the highest-grossing on Steam

The RPG was first released for PC on August 3, 2023, with subsequent releases for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well later in the year. eXputer’s 5/5 review of Baldur’s Gate 3 holds it in high regard, calling it “one of the greatest RPGs of all time.” I recommend checking out this expertly curated guide on the 10 best Act 2 weapons in the title, especially if you’re inexperienced with the game at the moment.

Oh, and here’s why we think that Baldur’s Gate 3 is probably going down in history for what it brings to the table, which is nothing but brilliance.
