Elden Ring Received An Update On SteamDB, Hints At Possible DLC Reveal

A similar pattern last year concluded with the launch of the Colosseum.

Story Highlights

  • Elden Ring files received an update on SteamDB a few days before TGA 2023.
  • People speculate that this may be hinting at a DLC reveal at TGA 2023 due to last year’s free update.
  • Last week, Yasuhiro Kitao revealed that Shadow of the Erdtree is “a little ways off.”

Elden Ring has received yet another update on SteamDB hinting at an imminent announcement. The page shows a list of inclusions in the “Depots” section from two days ago with names such as dev-release, dev-debug, and development. Furthermore, there are several entries with the prefix “pd” and a couple of listings titled qa-debug and qa-release.

The fantasy RPG has received many updates of this nature from the statistics website which sparked rumors of announcements and reveals for Shadow of the Erdtree. Due to the lack of such events, many users have stopped paying much heed to these entries. That said, some people have spotted a pattern here leading to speculation once again.

Before The Game Awards last year, Elden Ring received similar updates on SteamDB and it ended up being the free Colosseum update. It unlocked the large arenas that piqued our curiosity for almost a year and allowed players to engage in various PVP battles with each Colosseum having its own set of rules.

Shadow of the Erdtree has been in development for quite some time and work on the expansion seems to be going well. Last week at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2023 in Japan, FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao broke the silence stating that it’s “progressing well” but “a little ways off.

Based on these clues, people believe that the upcoming TGA event may reveal a gameplay trailer for the DLC. Given the track record of FromSoftware’s reveals at The Game Awards overall, it’s rather plausible for Elden Ring to make its next big appearance there.

Elden Ring has been a hallmark success for FromSoftware with a decade of experience culminating in an open world that broke conventional standards. This achievement is reflected in the 12 million units it sold just two weeks after launch, with one million copies moved in Japan alone. Since then, the action RPG has rolled over 20 million copies earlier this year and continues to garner the same amount of love in 2023.
