Kiryu’s Voice Actor Also Believes NG+ Shouldn’t Be Paywalled In Infinite Wealth

Kiryu’s English voice actor, Yong Yea, believes NG+ shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Yong Yea isn’t the only one, as many fans of the Like a Dragon series have also lashed out on social media regarding the New Game Plus feature not being available in the Standard Edition of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

I've expressed this stance in the past and I'll express it again. No game should lock New Game Plus behind a paywall. Doing so hurts community good will and replayability, a net negative in the long run. It should be a base feature or free update for any game that supports it.

RGG Studios’ upcoming game, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, only features New Game Plus in the Deluxe and Ultimate Edition of the game. Note that if you want to platinum the game, you’ll need either the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, as a few achievements require the player to play the NG+.

I'm excited for Infinite Wealth but charging extra for NG+ is just silly. It's literally just a replay of the game with your skills and items unlocked.

I've even heard that some of the Xbox achievements are locked behind NG+.

According to Yong Yea’s tweet, locking NG+ behind a paywall hurts community goodwill and affects replayability. Kiryu’s voice actor also added that NG+ should be a free feature in every game that supports it. Furthermore, if NG+ is required to platinum any game, it should be available with the Standard Edition and not locked behind more expensive editions.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the eighth mainline addition to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise. The game is being developed by RGG Studios and published by Sega and will be released on January 26, 2024.
