- A new rumor hints that Sony might be remaking Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
- The information comes from the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast.
- Shpeshal Nick clarified that this information doesn’t mean that the remake is guaranteed to happen.
A new rumor on the block claims that Sony is allegedly working on a remake of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. In the latest episode of the XboxEra Podcast, Shpeshal Nick revealed that they and Jon got some information independently of each other along with “evidence,” indicating the aforementioned project. Presumably, it’s to bring one of Sony’s biggest IPs to newer players. You can find the full segment in the video below at 3:20:55.
We received some evidence that indicates that Sony will probably be remaking the first Uncharted game. Again, this is what we both saw independently of each other. It doesn’t necessarily mean this is 100% happening. It’s a rumor mill.”
Elaborating further on the topic, Nick states that having received this information doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to happen. However, given that Sony has continued to put out remakes and remasters in recent years, remaking Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is a possibility given the series’ global recognition, critical acclaim, and the amount of time that has passed since the first and fourth games.
That said, Nick clarifies further by bringing up the launch of the remastered Uncharted Collection on the PlayStation 4 which also happens to be backwards compatible with the PlayStation 5. This factor creates uncertainty as to whether the remake will happen as the original version is easily accessible on the platform. It’s worth noting that Atlus did something similar by releasing the remastered version of Persona 3 Portable on modern platforms while the remake was in development.
Nick went to talk about the recent Insomniac leak, wondering if the information on the rumored Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune remake originated from that stolen data. For the uninitiated, Rhysida stole 1.67 Terabytes of data from the renowned studio last year in a ransomware attack, resulting in one of the industry’s most profound cases of information theft since the GTA 6 leak.
The majority of Insomniac‘s stolen data was initially placed on auction before being published on the internet; a portion of those files were withheld. Nick closed the segment stating that “this does seem to indicate that it was, at the very least, a strong consideration.”

We advise you to take information with a helpful serving of salt. Given the nature of this rumor, it’s evident that there’s no point in pinning hopes and expectations on it. If such a project is in the works, Sony will eventually announce it so it’s best to keep an eye out for that.
