Starfield’s negative reception on Steam

Ever since the game came out this September, the debate around Starfield has been endless. The RPG got generally positive reviews early on, with an 86 Metacritic rating on PC. However, this reception has grown colder as time has passed, with many calling the Xbox exclusive underwhelming.

Considering how Todd Howard hyped up Starfield as “Skyrim in space” and filled it up with procedurally generated worlds, the criticism isn’t too invalid. Many players also stated that the absence of simple things like “Space radio” made the RPG’s world-building inferior to Skyrim and more akin to No Man’s Sky. Consequently, as time has gone by the reception has gotten mixed, slowly growing towards the negative side.
