The Australian Classification Board has rated Starfield 18+ for “Interactive drug use.” The upcoming RPG will have a “Restricted R” rating in the country as per the classification. The rating also sheds some light on aspects like violence and language. Violence will have a “strong impact” in the game according to the board’s classification scale.
Language and themes will be mild and are only moderate in Starfield. Per the Australian Classification Board, Nudity will be very mild in the game and you will barely feel its impact. Furthermore, there will be no adult sequences in the Bethesda game in accordance with the rating scale. Interactive drug use is the only warning the rating board has given parents in its “consumer advice” section.
Role-playing games constitute arguably the most important and critically acclaimed genre in gaming. Many have called it gaming at its best and with titles like Elden Ring, Monster Hunter Rise, and Cyberpunk 2077 not only selling like hotcakes but also winning awards, it’s hard to disagree. Every few years we get a new RPG game that pushes the genre’s boundary.
And, 2023 seems like one of those years with Bethesda’s highly anticipated RPG Starfield launching in it.
Starfield Up Until Now
The hype around the game has been palpable since its initial announcement at 2018’s E3. After releasing a short teaser at the event, Bethesda was radio silent for 3 years regarding the game. Fans finally got to see a better glimpse of Starfield at E3 2021 through an in-game teaser trailer. Bethesda announced that the RPG would be an Xbox Series console exclusive at this event.
We also got a release date of November 11, 2022, but as you all know, the developer failed to meet it and delayed the game to 2023. Now, Starfield is supposed to release on September 6, 2023, globally for PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Previously, it was going to launch in the first half of 2023 but many assume Bethesda needed more time to polish it.
The RPG is going to launch on the Xbox Game Pass on day one, which is a big win for the service. Microsoft is building up the hype for the impending release of Starfield with heavy marketing. Leaks suggest a Starfield-themed Xbox will launch alongside the game and the collector’s edition will even have a smartwatch. Starfield Direct, a Microsoft-Bethesda event dedicated to the game, will take place on June 11, 2023.
We will get an in-depth look at the upcoming title at this event which takes place almost 3 months before release. This press event will certainly break the hype barrier but the info made public till now has been enough for that purpose. Starfield is going to have 3 times as many voice actors as the legendary Skyrim game. Dialogue and persuasion are going to be a big part of the game and voice acting on such a level back it up.
If that doesn’t excite you about the RPG’s scale, its setting will surely do. More than 100 systems and over 1000 planets will be part of the game’s “Settled Systems“, an open-world solar system. From getting to fly and customize ships to making your own character in a thorough builder, Starfield puts the word “role-play” in RPGs. With so much to do, it is hard to not get excited about the Bethesda RPG.
