Abilities
Once Ifrit is unlocked, there are 3 main abilities Clive can utilize in combat & get an advantage over enemies. As you master these three skills, you get a clear picture of Ifrit.
Limit Break
Limit Break is a powerful, game-changing ability that can be accessed after unlocking Ifrit. With its use, Clive’s battle performance is significantly improved for a short period, resulting in a boost to his damage output. This can be strategically used when Clive is low on health, providing a safety net during critical moments. What sets Limit Break apart is its dual functionality; not only does it bolster Clive’s offensive capability, but it also provides healing. This gives players a clutch chance to recover when their potion supply has run dry.
However, players should note that Limit Break requires a full gauge to be activated, which means timing and tactical deployment are key to utilizing this ability to its fullest potential. Upgrading Limit Break with Ability Points will allow for additional Limit Break gauges, enhancing its overall utility.
Will-O’-The-Wykes
Will-O’-The-Wykes, an elemental ability from Ifrit, serves both offense and defense. Clive summons fireballs, damaging enemies and absorbing damage. It excels against solo foes, hitting them repeatedly for high damage. Upgrades boost its power, fireball count, and defensive capabilities, making Clive more resilient against tough enemies.
Ignition
Ignition, a powerful skill in Final Fantasy 16, allows Clive to perform a multi-hit, fire-charged attack even in midair. It excels in crowd control, dragging lighter foes and causing significant damage. You can adjust its direction mid-charge and upgrade it with Ability Points for greater strength and range.
How To Beat Ifrit
To understand Ifrit in FF16, you’ll face Ifrit in a high-stakes boss battle. Play as Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, in this on-rails fight. Use Triangle to attack, R1 to evade, and the left stick to aim. Accurate hits and timing are crucial to defeating Ifrit, the Eikon of Fire.
- Phase 1: Dodging and Aiming
- Control Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, in an on-rails fight against Ifrit.
- Use Triangle to attack, R1 to evade, and the left stick to aim your attacks at Ifrit.
- When the targeting circle expands, it’s the best time to attack. Time your strikes for accuracy.
- Ifrit will leap from side to side in a narrow passage. Evade his attacks with precise timing.
- Phase 2: Expanding Battle Area and Cinematic Strike
- The battle shifts to a cavernous area where Ifrit displays agility, jumping between pillars and throwing debris.
- Continue attacking Ifrit while dodging his assaults. Use the left stick for precise aiming.
- Destroy any obstacles that appear in your path using Phoenix’s powers.
- When Ifrit’s health is around half, a Cinematic Strike opportunity arises. Press Square for a powerful attack.
- Final Phase: Flames of Rebirth
- Ifrit attempts to finish off Phoenix with his ultimate move.
- Despite the seemingly dire situation, Phoenix’s Flames of Rebirth ability activates, allowing Phoenix to recover.
- Phoenix retaliates and strikes the final blow against Ifrit.
- The battle concludes with Joshua and the Phoenix seemingly vanishing.
Strategies and Tips:
- Precision Dodging: Time your evasions just before Ifrit’s attacks connect to execute a Precision Dodge.
- Aim Precisely: Use the left stick to aim your attacks accurately, especially when the targeting circle expands.
- Obstacle Management: In the cavernous area, be vigilant for obstacles and quickly blast them away to clear your path.
- Cinematic Strike: When Ifrit’s health is around half, seize the opportunity for a Cinematic Strike by pressing Square.
- Flames of Rebirth: Don’t panic when Ifrit launches his ultimate move. The Flames of Rebirth ability of Phoenix will turn the tide of the battle.
