The BEST Twinblades In Elden Ring [Ranked]

Learn everything there is about the best Twinblades in Elden Ring among all six as well as their stats and the best overall build.

The Elden Ring Best Twinblades come down to their playstyle and attributes, but mainly, they depend on players on how they want to adapt these weapons to their builds. There are six Twinblades in the base game of Elden Ring, ranging from the fan-favorite Gargoyle Twinblade to simple ones aligned with affinities to cause bleed damage. Having prior knowledge about the stats and attributes of each Twinblade will be key to mastering them as well as integrating them with your Tarnished’s builds.

Key Takeaways
  • There are a total of six Twinblades in the base game of Elden Ring, each having its unique stats and properties, such as special attacks and customizable affinities.

  1. The Gargoyle’s Black Blades offer nothing noteworthy; despite their high attack rating, they lack viability via their holy/physical damage output.
  2. The default Twinblade is great for beginner players as they can dish out excellent damage in two-handed mode and be tuned with different Ashes of War.
  3. The Twinned Knight Swords has great scaling options, as you can use Bleed, Cold, and even Heavy on it without losing too much attack power.
  4. Godskin Peeler has a special attack called Black Flame Tornado, but it isn’t powerful in most situations; however, it is still a decent Twinblade for dual-wield builds.
  5. Eleonora’s Poleblade is a fan-favorite among the community, most notable for excellent blood-loss damage and the Bloodblade Dance special attack.
  6. Gargoyle’s Twinblade has the highest attack rating on Heavy affinity as well as used in my favorite builds of Elden Ring.

  • The Best Twinblade build focuses on melting the boss via a power stance combination between the Twinned Knight Swords and Gargoyle’s Twinblade.
  • The Talismans and playstyle revolve around applying buffs such as Seppuku before boss fights and using continuous, uninterrupted jump attacks to melt the HP.

Our list starts off with the Gargoyles Black Blades, which can be obtained in the Forbidden Lands area by defeating the Black Blade Kindred. You reach this connecting area right before triggering the entrance to the Mountaintop of the Giants. The default Weapon Skill found on the weapon is called spinning slash, but aside from that, there are a few key reasons why the Gargoyle’s Black Blade is at the lowest in my ranking list.

Pros

  • The Weapon has gained some buffs during the Patch 1.08 update, which increased its attack speeds and reduced the recovery time (reducing the time needed for animations to follow up).
  • Out of all the Best Elden Ring Twinblades, Gargoyle’s Black Blade has the highest attack rating.

Cons

  • Unfortunately, you cannot change the Ash of War of the weapon, which is a major setback for it.
  • The weapon does not have adequate scaling, as you will need to invest highly in both Strength and Faith stats to use it properly.
  • The Gargoyle’s Black Blade features both physical and holy damage, which is great against undead enemies but falls flat against most of the endgame since most enemies and bosses will resist Holy damage.
  • Despite using it in two-handed style, the Gargoyle’s Black Blade will not get any significant boost to its damage, even if it’s upgraded at the highest intervals.

Living up to its name, the Twinblade is the basic weapon in its respective weapon archetype, offering a simple move set and being available immediately when you start the game. You can find it early on in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins in Limgrave, using it with almost any type of Melee build. The main weapon skill is Spinning Slash, but thankfully, you can at least modify the Ashes of War to configure or alter the Twinblade to your liking.

Pros

  • If you’re looking to use a weapon early on to deal with successful rapid hits quickly, then this default Twinblade will easily get the job done.
  • The weapon has some great infusion probabilities, as you can adjust it to deal fire or lightning damage, and it will easily deal enough damage to enemies during the mid to late game.
  • By two-handing it, you can quickly apply frost or bleed buildup if you have infusions for those respective status effects on the Twinblade, making killing any enemy a breeze.

Cons

  • Despite the infusions providing adequate damage, the Twinblade has the lowest damage overall with almost every infusion aside from Dexterity or Keen.
  • You will likely end up replacing the Twinblade with a better one, such as the Gargoyle’s Twinblade, later down the line due to the better damage scaling.

The Twinned Knight Swords are an upgrade from the default Twinblade, as these can be found in Altus Plateau in front of a Windmill on the East side. The weapon once again features the Spinning Slash as the default weapon skill, but you can modify the Ashes of War and change its affinity. The unique aspect of the Twinned Knight Swords is that it is the Twinblade with the longest reach in Elden Ring.

Pros

  • Unlike the previously mentioned Twinblades, the Twinned Knight Swords has fantastic Strength scaling, making it a great choice to have either Heavy or cold affinity.
  • While exploring Altus Plateau, you will likely obtain the Godskin Peeler Twinblade too, which is an excellent weapon to Dualwield the Twinned Knight Sword with for a Power stance build.
  • The weapon gains increased damage when two-handing it, especially if you have it set to the affinities we mentioned above, either Cold, Heavy, or even Bleed, which can make staggering enemies easier.

Cons

  • The only downside is that despite being a suitable all-rounder weapon and Twinblade, the maximum attack rating still gets outshined by Twinblades such as Gargoyle’s Twinblade.

3. Godskin Peeler

The Godskin Peeler Twinblade can be found by defeating the Godskin Apostle located in the Windmill Village of the Altus Plateau region. The weapon has a unique R2/Right-click attack when two-handing, and what makes it even more unique against other Twinblades is how it has the highest weight.

The Weapon art is called Black Flame Tornado, which allows you to summon an AoE Black flame attack around you, similar to the attacks used by the Godskin Duo bosses.

Pros

  • The Godskin Peeler is fantastic for Dual-wielding with other Best Twinblades in Elden Ring, such as the Blood Twinned Knight Swords Twinblade.
  • The most notable feature of the weapon is that it has excellent damage scaling when set to either Cold or Keen affinity.
  • On Cold Affinity, you can pair it with Eleonora’s Poleblade, which is one of the best blood weapons to melt the health bar of enemies or bosses in Elden Ring.

Cons

  • You can only acquire the weapon during a mid-game area of Elden Ring, so you will need to wait quite a while in order to get your hands on it.
  • The Black Flame Tornado is a weapon art that you will barely use, as most of the damage output with the Godskin Peeler will be dished out via its affinities.

2. Eleonora’s Poleblade

Eleonora’s Poleblade Twinblade can be acquired by defeating the Violet Bloody Finger, Eleonora, an NPC Invader who can be found at the Second Church of Marika in the Altus plateau. The unique weapon art of the weapon is called Bloodblade Dance, where you will charge at the target with a flurry of tornado-like attacks, and you can follow it up with another input which will deal an additional attack.

Other special traits of the weapon include how it can cause bloodloss buildup and dish out both physical and fire damage on successful hits to the enemy. Eleonora’s Poleblade also has a unique charged heavy attack where you can hold it down to unleash a vertical slash attack at the target.

Pros

  • Eleonora’s Poleblade has the lightest weight (6.0) among all current Twinblades in the base game of Elden Ring, which is great for builds that don’t have too much endurance or equip load.
  • Bloodblade Dance is immensely powerful when used correctly, as it can shred through the poise of enemies and bosses to stagger them.
  • The weapon has a strong Bleed affinity, making Eleonora’s Poleblade one of the best bleed Twinblades to use in Elden Ring.
  • If you’re using an Arcane Build, then this weapon is ideal for you as Eleonora’s Poleblade scales off Arcane and Dexterity, allowing you to pair it greatly with Arcane-based items such as the Dragon Communion Seal.

Cons

  • In PVP or invasions, I found that using the Bloodblade Dance can leave you open to attacks from the other player, provided that they anticipate this attack and its range.
  • The weapon cannot be enchanted with any buffs or consumables.

Lastly, it brings us to Gargoyle’s Twinblade, which can be obtained b defeating the Valiant Gargoyle Duo in the Siofra Aqueduct area of Nokron, Eternal City. The weapon shares the basic moveset found across most of the other Twinblades and, by default, has the Spinning Slash as the Ash of War, which can be altered. The Gargoyle’s Twinblade also has the highest weight (8.5) out of all the Twinblades found right now in Elden Ring.

Pros

  • What makes the Gargoyle’s Twinblade land at the top of our list is how it has the best Heavy affinity scaling out of all the Twinblades, making its total attack rating deadly.
  • You can also opt to use either a Cold or Blood affinity on it and will still get the best results on it as long as you have the Best Ashes of War equipped on it for Strength or Heavy scaling.
  • If the enemy or boss has a weakness to them, the weapon can also work tremendously great in Lightning or Fire infusion, provided that you’re using it one-handed.
  • Due to such a flexible playstyle and being able to customize its properties, Gargoyle’s Twinblade makes for the best non-special Twinblades to use in your playthroughs.

Cons

  • The slight downside is that Gargoyle’s Twinblade has the shortest reach out of all the Twinblades.
  • The Gargoyle’s Twinblade has high item weight, meaning you will need to strategize if you want to power stance and use another Twinblade alongside it during gameplay.

The NG+ Dual-Wield Twinblade Build

If you ask me, as someone who’s on his third playthrough of the game now, the best build for the Twinblades in Elden Ring that I’ve found comprises using power stance to dual-wield to efficiently melt bosses and other major enemies. This build is largely focused on late-game and beyond Newgame+, so you can easily kill bosses such as Malenia and Fire Giant without breaking too much of a sweat. It is comprised of the following:

STATSVALUE
Vigor40
Mind14
Endurance33
Strength80
Dexterity15
Faith7
Intelligence25
Arcane70
  • Weapon: Gargoyle Twinblade and Twinned Knight Swords
  • Ash Of War: Seppuku
  • Armor: White Mask, Raptor’s Black Feathers (Arms and Legs are personal preference)
  • Talismans: Claw Talisman, Lord of Blood’s Exultation, Milicent’s Prosthesis, Rotten Winged Sword Insignia
  • Wondrous Physick Mix: Thorny Cracked Tear, Greenburst Crystal Tear
  • Spells/Incantations: Golden Vow

Activating Seppuku before attempting boss fights on both Twinblades is highly important as it will greatly increase our physical damage and boost bleed damage for Arcane to quickly melt the HP of your targets. Furthermore, if it isn’t already obvious, ensure both Twinblades are optimized to the Blood Affinity. Your main DPS should always be jump attacks using both Twinblades, as we have equipped the Claw Talisman.

Try not to get hit by bosses, as our Talisman setup also focuses on increasing our attack gradually by successful attacks without any interruptions or hindrances.

Talismans

  • The Claw Talisman will allow us to increase our jump attack damage by 15%, which is a no-brainer talisman for almost every power stance-based build.
  • Lord of Blood’s Exultation is a talisman that is a must for a bleed build, as upon successfully activating the bleed status on a target, it will boost your total attack damage.
  • Milicient’s Prosthesis will increase our dexterity stat by +5 and gradually increase our attack power with each successful hit (4%, 6%, 11%) from our weapons.
  • Finally, the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, much like our previously mentioned Talisman, will also slowly increase our attack power on successive attacks (6%, 8%, 13%)

Wondrous Physick Mix

  • The Thorny Cracked Tear, much like the Talismans of the build, also slowly increase our attack power by 9%, 13%, and caps off at 20%
  • The Greenburst Crystal Tear is also essential to us as it will give you a 15-second stamina duration buff, allowing you to easily dodge attacks and perform jumping attacks without any hitches.

Spells

  • While it isn’t necessary to use, in my opinion, you can use Golden Vow as well as Flame, Grant me Strength to boost your attack damage and provide physical defense for extra protection.

Summing It Up

This wraps up my guide to the Best Elden Ring Twinblades, and while the list ends here, there are still tons of other great weapons to use as some of the best weapons in the game include the likes of the Reduvia Blade, Moonveil Katana as well as the Nagakiba. Not to mention, a few of the Legendary Armaments in Elden Ring may also entice you to try them out with their respective builds.

Elden Ring won multiple Game of the Year awards, and rightfully so, as in our Review, we couldn’t stop praising every aspect of it, from the stellar Art Direction to the profound gameplay.

There is never a dull moment here, and I cannot wait to play the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC when it launches in the coming year or so. I hope you enjoyed reading this article, and if you have any other questions, please list them in the comments below! As always, eXputer wishes you luck!
