Cards In Lost Ark

Lost Ark gives players multiple ways of upgrading and customizing their characters, and Cards are simply just one of the many progressive systems in the game.

There are multiple card sets in Lost Ark, all offering different advantages for your character. Investing in the right cards can help you out in various situations and can save you a lot of time in the end game. At first glance, it may seem complex to new players, but it’s actually really simple if you know what cards to look out for and invest your card XP points in.

A word of caution, you can’t just equip any card on your deck and expect to get a buff; you need to equip cards of the same class in order to get the intended buffs on your character. While you’re at it, consider reading our Gunslinger, Striker, Deadeye, and Scrapper build guides to perfect the playstyle you best fit into.

Card Sets

Cards in Lost Ark come in sets, meaning that the more cards you have from the same set offer more advantages and buffs. Equipping cards from different sets is also possible, but it is not as effective and will not offer as many advantages as equipping cards from the same sets.

Your character can equip 6 cards at the same time, and you can swap them out whenever you want.

Now that does not mean that you can only equip one card set at a time. Some card sets have 2 or 3 cards in total, so you can also equip 2 card sets at the same time.

Acquiring Cards

There are multiple methods for acquiring cards in Lost Ark. One of the simplest methods to acquire cards is through card packs. Now, if you have a legendary card pack, that does not necessarily mean that you will get a Legendary card. The name of the card pack just indicates the highest rank of card obtainable through the pack.

Another way of obtaining cards is to complete different missions and dungeons, so you will most likely gain a bunch of cards without even trying to.

You can also complete daily and weekly missions to gain more cards.

Try doing these missions as many times as you can because the Legendary cards are the rarest, and it can take quite some time trying to obtain Legendary cards.

If you’re trying to obtain a specific card, you may want to take a look at the bottom of its description which states which card packs drop the specific card you’re looking for.

Let’s say you’re trying to acquire the Caspiel card from the Forest of the Giants card pack, as you can see below the card’s description. It says “Dawning Leaf Card Pack” and “Ebony Leaf Card Pack, ” indicating that these card packs have a higher chance of dropping this specific card.

Upgrading Cards

Every card in Lost Ark can be upgraded 5 times as indicated by the gems or crystals at the bottom of the card, and These are called “Awakening Levels”. Upgrading cards can be a lengthy process, depending on which card you’re trying to upgrade.

Upgrading your cards require 2 things.

It requires Card XP, which will fill up your card XP gauge; once the XP gauge has been filled then, you’ll need a duplicate card to ascend it to the next level. You get Card XP occasionally early game but don’t let that fool you because Card XP is finite and very hard to obtain, so you don’t want to be wasting your card XP trying to upgrade random cards.

Duplicate Cards are required if you wish to ascend your current cards to the next level. Meaning if you wish to upgrade a certain card to Awakening Level 1 then you need 1 duplicate card that will be merged with your base card, If you wish to upgrade a card to Awakening level 2 from Awakening Level 1 then you need 2 duplicate cards that will be merged with your base card and so on. In total, you will need 15 duplicate cards, excluding your base card, if you wish to upgrade your card to the max level.

Now that can be easy if you’re trying to upgrade common cards, but if you’re trying to upgrade a legendary card, then you need to be ready to invest a lot of time in Lost Ark.
