Sons of the Forest Paraglider [Location & Controls]

Everything to know about Hang Gliders

The first patch released by the Endnight Games has introduced the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest. You can now find the gliders in various spots across the map. Life will become a lot easier when you’re able to soar through the skies and have no cannibals to worry about. Before you head out to seek the paraglider, make sure you know everything about it along with the locations where you can find them in Sons of the Forest.

Key Takeaways
  • Hang Gliders are a great piece of equipment that players can use to fly above the Island in Sons of the Forest.
  • The Hang Gliders are found in various spots across the map, and they commonly spawn at the edge of cliffs, abandoned camps, and the Mountain side.
  • Hang Gliders can not be stored in the inventory like the rest of the items in Sons of the Forest.
  • Operating the Hang Gliders is quite easy; here are the following controls:
    • Press Spacebar to jump off a high place.
    • Press ‘W’ and ‘S’ to descend or ascend in the air.
    • Press ‘A’ and ‘D’ to turn right and left in the air.

  • Hang Gliders can be found in specific locations on the map but cannot be stored in the inventory; players must carry them to use in different areas.
  • Flying the Hang Glider involves reaching a high point, jumping off, and deploying the glider while in mid-air.
  • Controls: Press Space to jump and deploy the Hang Glider; ‘W’ pushes the tip down, ‘S’ pushes it up; ‘W’ speeds up descent, ‘S’ slows down and ascends.
  • ‘A’ sways right, ‘D’ sways left; players can fly into the ground to land safely as long as there are no obstacles.
  • Landing at a suitable point is advised to reuse the Hang Glider; landing in challenging terrain requires carrying it back to a suitable launch point

NOTE: While using the Hang Glider, players will not be able to access their GPS, inventory, or any weapons. Therefore, make sure you work out your landing point and the general direction of your course before launching off with the Hang Glider.

Where To Find The Hang Glider?

Fortunately, even if you do end up at a weird spot with the Glider, you can also wish to leave it be because there are tons of other Gliders which you can find scattered across the map. Having more Hang Gliders available makes life a little easier for the player.

There are up to 11 Hang Gliders discovered so far in the current version of Sons of the Forest. Players can usually find them in spots that are close to a nice elevation point. Knowing all these locations on the map will help you progress your base at a much more rapid pace since you’ll be able to travel a lot faster.

Most of the Hang Gliders are found on top of, or around, the Snow Mountain. Apart from that, you can also find plenty of Gliders along the shores of the Island in Sons of the Forest.

One of the first Hang Gliders that you can come across is pretty close to the River Spawn point. If you happen to have a base around here, then you can easily make your way to this Hang Glider.

From the River Spawn Point, head eastwards and cross two streams along the way. Eventually, you will come across the Hang Glider atop a small cliff next to the Littlebird Helicopter crash site.

Location #2

If you go east from the first Hang Glider we mentioned above, you will find another paraglider. This glider is not that far from the first one and can be reached pretty quickly on foot as well.

Go east from the first Hang Glider and trek upwards on the Mountain to get to the second Glider next to an Abandoned Camp. The Glider will be placed at the edge of the cliff.

You can find another Hang Glider in the southern sections of the Mountain. The Hang Glider will be right at the edge of the mountain, facing to the South, near an abandoned camp and the South Cave entrance.

You can also reach this point by traveling to the East from the Plane Crash site or the Maintainance B Hatch (where you get the Compound Bow from).

Location #4

There is another Hang Glider on the South side of the Island. This one is quite easy to get to. Although, there is a cannibal camp along the way, so be wary of that.

You can reach this point by going southwards from the Maintenance B Hatch. Along the way, you’ll reach a pond, cross it and keep going until you reach the Southern Coast of the island. The Hang Glider is at the edge of the cliff facing the sea.

Location #5

In Snow Mountain, there are a bunch of Abandoned Camps right at the center of the area. Here you can gain access to yet another Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest. Apart from the Glider, you will also get some other useful items from this camp.

The exact location can be reached by going East from the Mountain Spawn Point. The great thing about this glider is that it’s pretty close to the mountain peak. Hence, you can carry the glider to the top and fly over the Island for an extended period due to the extreme height.

Location #6

When it comes to the Eastern parts of the map, there aren’t a lot of Hang gliders that you can come across. The only Glider which has been spotted by players on the eastern side is next to the East Lake.

There’s a waterfall near this spot, which is a good POI to look out for a while finding the Hang Glider. You can also reach this point from the previous Glider. Just head towards the East and follow the river. Eventually, you’ll descend and leave the snowy fields of the mountain and notice the East Lake Hang Glider next to a cliff.

Location #7

You can find another Hang Glider in the Northern regions of the mountain. This one is quite easy to come by, which is quite evident from the image above.

Players can also make their way to this hang glider from the mountain peak by heading toward the Northeast. The Hang Glider is placed right next to an abandoned camp.

Location #8

If you go further to the Northside from the previous Glider, you’ll come across another one. The particular Hang Glider will be at the edge of a cliff looking over the Island’s golf course. The flight can be quite scenic as you glide over all the courses.

You can also reach the Hang Glider by heading Northwest from the Maintenance C Hatch (from where you get the Magnum revolver).

Location #9

Deep within the forests, northwest of the Mountain’s peak, you can get to another Hang Glider next to an abandoned camp. The Hang Glider can be quite tedious to find due to a bunch of trees in the area. However, if you spot a couple of camps along with a pond, you’ll surely be at the right place.

Players can also get to this point by traveling East from the Maintanance A Hatch (Maintanance Keycard location). Unfortunately, the Hang Glider does not reside nearby a cliff. Therefore to use the Hang Glider, you will need to carry it to a high spot.

Location #10

In the Northwest regions of the map, you can find the final two Hang Gliders. The first one is quite close to the spot from where you get the Binoculars. This is at the Northwestern tip of the map, where you can find the Kayaks.

From that spot, head towards the west while hugging the cliffside, and you will eventually get to the Hang Glider. If you do not know where the Kayaks are, then you can also reach the glider by traveling west from the Beach Spoint point, or from the location where you got the Rebreather from.

Location #11

There is one last known location of the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest. You can find a paraglider at the West Coast cliff, right at the edge of the map. The location is pretty easy to get to. However, there isn’t any spawn point nearby which means that you’ll have to buckle up for the journey, especially if you’re in a different region.

There are a few abandoned camps close by, which means that you’ll probably get a few supplies along the way. In order to reach the location, you can go west from the Food & Dining Hatch location until you reach the coast.
