God of War Ragnarok Dominates South Korea And Taiwan Weekly Sales Next

Amazing but typical.

God of War Ragnarok has undoubtedly had an enormous year. The game entered the market in the latter half of 2022, and it has already made an impact that will live on in history. The PlayStation exclusive has emerged as a front-runner for the majority of awards, and the critical response has been phenomenal as well.

According to the most recent sales figures, GoW Ragnarok dominates two important Asian nations: Taiwan and South Korea. The PlayStation exclusive left behind iconic games like Tactics Ogre: Reborn and Animal Crossing: New Horizons during its first week of release. It definitely doesn’t appear to be taking a break.

Major Takeaways:

  • God of War Ragnarok now owns the Taiwanese and South Korean charts as well.
  • The game topped both countries’ weekly sales while dominating other major games.
  • GoW Ragnarok’s tremendous performance continues with previous domination in European regions and the UK.

According to the sales expert Twitter account Pierre485, the week 45 sales (Nov 7-13) in Taiwan are as follows:

Note that God of War Ragnarok was released on a Wednesday and Tactics of Ogre: Reborn on a Friday so we can say it had two more days to outsell the second title. Nevertheless, crazy domination.

Let’s have a look at South Korea’s week 45 sales with God of War Ragnarok’s launch:

Noting the PlayStation 5 on top in both regions we can say God of War Ragnarok is the best exclusive release in Sony’s current generation’s two years of existence even though it is still unknown how many PlayStation 4 customers genuinely desired to play it on the PlayStation 5’s enhanced tech.

The game’s first week of launch has been huge for it worldwide. Recently Spanish sales expert website reported the game has sold over ninety thousand physical copies in Spain alone dominating massive titles like Fifa 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and even Sonic Frontiers for week 45.

God of War Ragnarok’s influence on Europe was also evident as it topped the Italian charts and kept up its stellar success across the board.

However, we also noticed the game slightly slacking off in Japan as Tactics of Ogre: Reborn surpassed God of War Ragnarok in Japanese weekly sales.

Nevertheless, recall the game’s opening week in the UK became a sight to see. God of War Ragnarok launched with 145,000 sales in the UK. Clearly one of the most successful titles Sony laid its hands on.

Adding to the counting success, God of War Ragnarok is now the fastest-selling first-party launch game on PlayStation. The latest release from Santa Monica Studio set a franchise record by selling 5.1 million copies in its first week.

Since its release on November 9, 2022, GoW Ragnarok has been flying off the racks everywhere. Since then, the game’s success has set numerous records for popularity. The single-player video game is also a nominee for Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Direction, and a number of other prizes presented by The Game Awards.
