EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition

EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition on Sale
EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition on Sale
  • Release Date: 29 September, 2023
  • Genre: Sports, Simulation
  • Developer: EA Vancouver, EA Romania

EA Sports FC 24 is the start of something new for industry giant Electronic Arts. Having its partnership severed with major football governing body FIFA, FC 24 is the first football game by EA that comes without the FIFA branding. Even so, this breaking of ties between the two establishments didn’t lead to a downward trend for EA’s latest football title—it still topped 2023 off as the best-selling game in the UK.

So as the New Year sale on the PlayStation Store runs rampant, the EA FC 24 Ultimate Edition has been discounted to $40 as opposed to its $39.99 MSRP. And it’s not just the base game that you’ll be getting here, the Ultimate Edition of the football simulator has been promoted actually, which comprises about 4600 FC Points, the game’s in-game currency to help you with the Ultimate Team mode.

Sonic Superstars

Sonic Superstars
Sonic Superstars

  • Genre: Platformer
  • Developer: Arzest, Sonic Team

Sonic Superstars has settled well among fans and critics, being a 2023 platformer based on the world-renowned Sega-created character Sonic the Hedgehog. Reviewers across the board have praised the title for its fitting art direction and music that aims to reignite the spirit of nostalgia that dates back to the classic Sonic gems. Definitely get this one for its 40% discounted price of $35.99 if you’re into side-scrollers.

Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
  • Release Date: January 28, 2022
  • Genre: Action-Adventure
  • Developer: Naughty Dog, Iron Galaxy

Moving forward, we’ve got our hands on a flagship PlayStation-exclusive franchise in the name of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, a bundle comprising two different Uncharted games—A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy, both packed with action, adrenaline, and a whole lot of fun for action-adventure enthusiasts. At 60% off, you need to spend only $19.99 bucks here and you’re good to go.

The special part about this collection is that both included games have been hard-wired for the PlayStation 5. That’s why you can expect the magnificent DualSense to pitch in with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, not to mention 3D audio optimization, 4K support, two different graphics modes i.e. Performance and Fidelity, and ultra-fast loading times thanks to the PS5’s SSD.

  • Genre: RPG, Open-World
  • Developer: Bethesda Game Studios

All right, so if you’ve somehow stayed oblivious to the legend that The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is, now is the perfect time to dive into this generation-spanning RPG. Tracing its initial release back to 2011, the Anniversary Edition of the game comprises the Special Edition of Skyrim as the base game, which is a remastered version of the RPG, released for next-gen consoles in 2021.

RPG enthusiasts are going to love the type of flexibility that Skyrim has to offer to them, including mod support, a revamped game engine, and, of course, noteworthy graphical improvements that make picking up this game all the more worth it in 2024. It’s available for a cent short of $20, and since its the Anniversary Edition, expect a swath of additional content to come along with your purchase.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
  • Release Date: February 28, 2017
  • Genre: Action-Adventure, RPG, Open-World
  • Developer: Guerilla Games

In case you still haven’t given the first Horizon a go, PlayStation has the A-grade RPG up for sale for a mere $10. At that price, you’ve got yourself a full-value RPG here, designed with gorgeous visuals, a fantastic combat system, and a bustling open world full of incentives to explore. Thanks to the superb quality that the title radiates, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold over 20 million units as of February 2022.

The Complete Edition of the game includes The Frozen Wilds expansion for Zero Dawn, along with a digital art book, bonus weapons, outfits, and extra in-game resources, so you can acquire a head start as you begin your journey as Aloy. Oh, and there have been rumblings that a remake of this title is in the works, so best try it out ahead of time, so you can relish the potential remake to the full if it truly goes on to release, that is.

Dead Space Digital Deluxe Edition

Dead Space Digital Deluxe Edition
Dead Space Digital Deluxe Edition
  • Release Date: January 27, 2023
  • Genre: Third-Person Shooter, Action, Survival Horror
  • Developer: Motive Studio

Another first-class deal that the PlayStation storefront is letting players have at the moment is Dead Space, and that too the Digital Deluxe Edition of the survival horror for $39.99. Now bear in mind that this is a full $79.99-priced game by Motive Studio and EA, albeit a faithful one that reimagines the original Dead Space experience for modern-day consoles. It’s a fantastic game, to iterate the least, a must-try for fans of this genre.

eXputer reviewed the remake and rated it 4.5/5.0, with review expert Huzaifah Durrani remarking, “Motive Studio has successfully transferred everything that people loved about the original Dead Space from 2008, and given it a fresh coat of paint.” Here are some of the title’s features in detail, just in case you want to know about it more before plunging into the purchase.

Batman Arkham Collection

Batman: Arkham Collection
Batman: Arkham Collection
  • Release Date: November 22, 2013
  • Genre: Action-Adventure
  • Developer: Rocksteady Studios

Batman: Arkham Collection is from back when Rocksteady was hell-bent on crafting nothing but the best superhero games in history. The Batman: Arkham trilogy, namely Asylum, City, and Arkham Knight, is what you’ll be getting in this much-desired collection. Bursting at the seams with thrill, fast-paced (and often slow) action, these games make you feel like the Caped Crusader himself bar none.

And when you’ve played through the first two games, top it off with Batman: Arkham Knight with brand-new mechanics, improved visuals, enhanced combat, and the culmination of Batman’s story, much to the sadness of fans and players. That’s because the Arkham series continues today in the name of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but is it really the same?

Cult Of The Lamb

Cult of the Lamb
Cult of the Lamb
  • Release Date: 11 August, 2022
  • Genre: Roguelike, Construction Sim
  • Developer: Massive Monster

For $14.99, I’d say Cult of the Lamb brings great bang for your buck. This is a roguelike construction slash management simulator that follows the tale of a lamb who must gather an army of worshippers for the deity that rescued it from death. Pretty interesting, right? Well, the gameplay is even better. Publisher Devolver Digital rarely disappoints with its indie formula, and Cult of the Lamb is a shining example of the company’s focus.

eXputer’s 4.5/5.0 review of the roguelike holds it in high regard, praising its art style, humor, world-building, and often adorable displays of animation. The devs have that sport in them as well, recently adding a feature that no one really expected they’d go forward with after putting up what appeared to be a fairly comical post at the time.

Sonic Frontiers

Sonic Frontiers
Sonic Frontiers
  • Release Date: November 8, 2022
  • Genre: Adventure
  • Developer: Sonic Team

Sonic Frontiers is arguably considered the best 3D game in the extended Sonic franchise, but it’s not without a fault that you’ll have to tackle. It’s the most recent Sonic video game release in the series and is centered on an open-world setting without forgetting the conventional elements of a Sonic title that make the Blue Blur an amusing character to be entertained by.

The title was rated 3.0/5.0 in eXputer’s dedicated review, with Huzaifah calling Sonic Frontiers “a huge leap for the Sonic franchise,” highlighting its fun bosses, fantastic OST, enjoyable digital levels, and remarkable sound design. At 60% off, you can look forward to a good time ahead with this game, that’s for sure.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2
  • Release Date: June 13, 2022
  • Genre: Third-Person Shooter, Survival Horror
  • Developer: Capcom

It’s a shame that we didn’t get the relatively recently released Resident Evil 4 remake on sale as part of the PlayStation extended New Year sale, but fret not, because as far as faithful remakes go, Resident Evil 2 makes the cut to a fantastic extent just as well. Built with modern-day graphics and a revisited combat system, this is a solid package at what it’s priced at. If you’re a survival horror fan, this $10 is something you won’t regret spending.

In August 2023, it was reported that Resident Evil 2 has become the highest-selling game in the franchise, with over 12 million units rolled over. It’s also worth noting that the shooter is part of PS Plus Extra, so if you’re already a member of the subscription service, consider trying it out first before you buy it and make it your own.

Control: Ultimate Edition

Control: Ultimate Edition
Control: Ultimate Edition
  • Release Date: February 2, 2021
  • Genre: Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Third-Person Shooter
  • Developer: Remedy Entertainment

Control is one of the best sci-fi thrillers that you can play right now, and since the PlayStation Store is giving it away for an excellent price at a colossal 75% off, you have all the more reason to dive right into this Remedy masterpiece. Top-tier gunplay and combat mixed with the protagonist’s mystifying psychokinetic powers.

Also, if you intend on keeping up with the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU), Control is a must-play. Parts of it tie into the Alan Wake series, especially the AWE DLC add-on, so there’s that. You can’t sleep on a title of this stature, especially when it’s priced at $9.99 at the time of writing. Also, the cherry on top is that it’s PS5-optimized, so you’ll be able to relish all that next-gen goodness without breaking a sweat.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human Deluxe Edition

Dying Light 2 Stay Human Deluxe Edition
Dying Light 2 Stay Human Deluxe Edition
  • Release Date: February 4, 2022
  • Genre: Open-World, Action-Adventure, First-Person
  • Developer: Techland

Coming off as the sequel to one of the best zombie games ever made, Dying Light 2’s open-world setting is a dream playground for players, with Techland making sure the fun and thrill never go out of trend. Thanks to consistent post-launch support from the side of the Polish game developer, Dying Light 2’s polish is right where it should be right now, with an array of enhancements already made for the game.

eXputer rated Dying Light 2 Stay Human a solid 4.5/5.0, commending its gripping plotline, striking visuals, sublime parkour mechanics, and wide weapon variety. You can get its Deluxe Edition for about $43.99 at present, which is a cool 45% off from the title’s default pricing. Here is a rundown of what this particular variant gets you:

  • Dying Light 2 Stay Human Base Game
  • Exclusive Weapon Charms
  • Legendary Equipment
  • Digital Comic & Wallpapers
  • Digital Artbook & Soundtrack
  • Story DLC 1: Bloody Ties

Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition

Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition
Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition
  • Release Date: June 29, 2021
  • Genre: First-Person Shooter, Story-Driven
  • Developer: id Software

Doom Eternal is the latest installment in the long-running Doom franchise, being pumped full of gore, blood, and a lot of chaos by veteran developer studio id Software. Although its reception was cold in comparison to its predecessor, the first-person shooter still stands as one of the most enjoyable titles you can enjoy on your PlayStation 5, especially if you’re an FPS fanatic.

Wrapping Up – A Fantastic Occasion Of Much-Awaited Deals

The PlayStation New Year extended sale has brought another opportunity for cautious, budget-strapped players to dive into a world of sales, deals, and enticing discounts, and fill up their catalog without breaking the bank either. It’s a much-appreciated promotion on a number of noteworthy titles, save for a few that I would’ve loved to pick up on some percentage off.
