Starfield Mods Cross 14 Million Downloads On Nexus Mods

Starfield mods have now crossed 14 million downloads on Nexus Mods. The game currently has about 2,700 mods available to download from the site. You can now also use Vortex to download and organize Starfield mods on your PC. However, some mods that are available on the site don’t work with the Xbox Game Pass version of Starfield.

Nexus Mods also reported that over 400,000 users have used Vortex to download Starfield mods since the game’s launch on September 6. Starfield loads its mods in a different way than most games. You have to place the mod files in Documents\My Games\Starfield, unlike Starfield’s own Data folder, which is located in the game’s root directory.

Vortex will now use a workaround to change that default directory and trick the game to use the Data folder found in Starfield’s root directory. Another thing the users were required to do to load Starfield mods on their PC was to create or update a file named StarfieldCustom.ini and place it inside the Documents\My Games\Starfield. With Vortex, you won’t have to worry about that anymore, as it will automatically check and create the file if it’s missing.

Nexus Mods will continue to provide support for Starfield via Vortex with future updates. Load order support, FOMODs, fallback installations, and profile improvements are some of the planned features for the Vortex mod organizer.

Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Starfield is an Xbox exclusive and is unavailable to play on any other platform besides PC and Xbox. The game has also recently crossed the milestone of 10 million players just two weeks after its launch, making it Bethesda’s most successful game yet.
