What Are Daedalian Keys?
As we mentioned earlier, the Daedalian Keys are collectibles in Hogwarts Legacy. They lead you to secret cabinets which you can open up using the key to acquire a House Token. In total there are Sixteen Daedalian Keys in the game. They can be a bit tricky to find since they’re quite small. A good strategy is to keep your ears perked up and try hearing any sounds that resemble tiny wings fluttering (like the Golden Snitch).
If you’re still unable to find the Daedalian Key after reaching the locations as per our instructions, then you can also use the Revelio Spell. The spell will highlight the key if it is within your vicinity.
Whenever you hear this sound, follow it to reveal the Daedalian Key. All you need to do then is to chase it down until it reaches the secret lock it is assigned to. After interacting with the Secret lock, players will need to solve a puzzle, like the Arithmancy one, in order to open it up. The Daedalian Key will circle around the lock and occasionally fly across the keyhole. Your task will be to slap the key at the perfect time when it is right above the keyhole. You can slap the key by pressing X/A on your controller.
Successfully inserting the Key will unlock the secret cabinet which will reveal the House Token. These House Tokens are collectibles that are later used to unlock the House Chest in your character’s common room. Nevertheless, for now, let us focus on where to find all the 16 Daedalian Keys in Hogwarts.
All 16 Daedalian Key Locations In Hogwarts Legacy
The good thing about the Daedalian Key collectibles is that they are all situated within the school of Hogwarts. Hence, you won’t have to visit any other locations to acquire them.
Nevertheless, It is important to note that from the list below the finalthreeDaedaliankeys (Faculty Tower 1 & 2, Clock Tower) can only be reached after you unlock the Alohomora Spell.
These collectibles are introduced in “The Daedalian Keys” side quest. You’ll get this side quest unlocked after you’ve played through the game for a little while. In the mission, you’ll need to head to the Transfiguration Courtyard and talk to Nellie Oggspire.
With that said, let us list down all the locations for the 16 Daedalian Keys in Hogwarts Legacy that will help you get House Tokens.
Astronomy TowerAfter talking to Nellie Oggspire, you can head into the Astronomy Tower to find the first Daedalian key in the game. The key will lead you all the way up into the Astronomy Tower, so be ready to climb a bunch of stairs. After reaching the Astronomy room you’ll reach the cabinet which will reveal the first House Token in Hogwarts Legacy.
North Hall CourtyardFor the second Daedalian key, head to the Bell Tower. You can quickly use the Floo Flames fast-travel to reach the Bell Tower Courtyard. Once here, take the staircase to the south. Go straight into the door at the end of the staircase to end up in another hall.
Here you will, yet again, need to climb up all the stairs by following the Daedalian Key. You will eventually reach the secret cabinet at the top of the tower.
Defence Against The Dark Arts TowerThe third Daedalian key is found inside the Defence Against the Dark Arts Tower. You can easily use the Floo Flames to get there quickly. Once there, head all the way down by following the multiple staircases, until you reach the Rhinoceros skeleton.
Here you’ll encounter the Daedalian Key which will then lead you to the upper floor (towards the direction where the skeleton is facing). On the upper floor just go straight until you’ll see the secret cabinet on the right side.
Potions ClassroomThe Daedalian Key found in the Potions Classroom is quite easy to chase down to get another House Token. Head towards the Potions Classroom and you’ll hear the little wings sound right in front of the door. Chase it down through the tunneled staircase. Once you reach the lower floor you will be able to spot the cabinet at the end of the narrow hallway.
Central Hall (First Key)There are two keys that you can get in the Central Hall of Hogwarts. The first one can be found on the North side of the Unicorn statue and fountain. Simply use the Central Hall Floo Flames fast travel and you’ll see the Unicorn statue straightaway.
After the Daedalian Key takes flight, follow it as it passes by the Unicorn statue to the other side of the hall. Here you’ll find another House Token cabinet that can be unlocked with the Daedalian Key.
Central Hall (Second Key)Before moving ahead, there is another Daedalian Key that you can get in the Central Hall. From the Central Hall Floo Flames point head upstairs until you’re two levels up. On the south side, you’ll notice another staircase. Although, you only need to circle behind it to find the Daedalian Key.
The Daedalian key will then lead you back down one floor, where you’ll find the cabinet next to a few paintings.
LibraryWithin the Library Annex on the Hogwarts Legacy map, use the Library Floo Flames spot to travel there. Once there, head towards the large rows of bookshelves to find the Daedalian Key chilling around. It will lead you through a few rows before reaching the secret cabinet in the next hall inside the Library.
Entrance HallThe next Daedalian Key location that you can go to is outside the Great Hall in Hogwarts Legacy. To be precise, you’ll find the tiny key flying around staircases that lead into the Great Hall from the Entrance Hall. Once you find the key, it will fly down the staircases in Entrance Hall (away from the Great Hall) and reach the secret cabinet next to the Main Entrance door.
Quad CourtyardThere is another Daedalian key that you can find close to the Great Hall. From the Great Hall Floo Flames spot, take the west exit and go down the staircase on the right. Eventually, you will notice the Leviosa statue, this is where you’ll also hear or preferably see the Daedalian Key. Start following it as it goes down a few staircases and then an archway, eventually leading you to another secret cabinet close to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Tower.
Great HallBefore you move on there is another Key that you can chase down inside the Great Hall. Simply head straight inside the Great Hall and then head behind the pillar which has the Slytherin snake on it. Here you’ll find the Daedalian key which will then lead you to one of the corners of the Great Hall, close to its entrance (next to the Floo Flames point), and up the stairs. You’ll see the secret cabinet at once, while you’re climbing this set of stairs inside the Great Hall.
Grand StaircaseYou can also find a Daedalian key in the Grand Staircase in Hogwarts Legacy. You can use the Floo Flames fast travel point to the Grand Staircase Tower and then head down the magical staircase. While you’re heading down, you’ll ultimately run into the key around the third level of the staircase.
However, you do not need to stop as the Key will take you even further down the Grand Staircase. After a bit of running, you will eventually exit the Grand Staircase and reach another secret cabinet, close to the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flames point.
The Map Chamber (Dungeons)Two of the Daedalian Keys are found in the secret sections of Hogwarts. You can reveal them by pressing the “Secret Rooms” on the map, which will also reveal the Room of Requirement (if you’ve unlocked it by this point). Nonetheless, choose the Map Chamber Floo Flames point to fast-travel to the dungeons of Hogwarts.
If you fast travel to the Dungeons then take the stairs upwards and go through the Level 2 locked door. However, if you do not have access to the Map Chamber fast travel point yet, then you can also head down to the Dungeons where the Dragon statue is. Once there head towards the locked door and go through the alleyway. Here you’ll find the first Daedalian key in the Dungeons.
The Daedalian key will take you back toward the locked door, although it will turn left rather than going up the stairs. Here you will finally find the secret cabinet to get another House Token.
The Map Chamber (Near Dragon Statue)From the same alleyway where you found the earlier Dungeon Daedalian key, head north and turn left at the end to find the Dragon Statue. The Daedalian Key can be spotted right beside the Dragon Statue. Get close to it and then initiate the chase. During its flight, the key will lead you up the stairways next to the statue. On the 2nd floor, you’ll find the secret cabinet right in front of you.
Faculty Tower (First Key)Before we mention the locations of the final three Daedalian Keys, it is worth knowing that you can only access them if you have unlocked the Alohomora spell. You can unlock the spell after completing “The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament” quest in Hogwarts Legacy.
Once you have Alohomora, use the Floo Flames fast-travel to get to the Faculty Tower. From the Floo Flames point, head south until you go through an arched doorway, and then turn right to find the locked door. This locked door can be opened up by the Alohomora Spell. After going through the locked door, run straight ahead toward the staircase and reach the second floor.
You will find the Daedalian Key on the second floor which will lead you back down. The Secret cabinet can be spotted right next to the staircase on the lower level (where the locked door was).
Faculty Tower (Second Key)Go through the same locked door that you encountered while finding the previous Daedalian Key in Faculty Tower. Head upwards through the staircase, which is right in front of the locked door. Pass by the floor where you found the first Faculty Tower key. Go up a few floors until you reach the spiral staircase. After the first spiral stairway ends on a new floor, turn south to head towards the Clock Tower. You will spot the Daedalian key inside the hallway that leads toward the Clock Tower.
The Daedalian Key will take you back toward the Spiral staircase that you used to come upstairs. The secret cabinet is right beside the spiral staircase on the same floor.
Clock TowerFor the final Daedalian Key location in Hogwarts Legacy, use the Floo Flames fast travel ability to reach the Clock Tower Courtyard. After you reach the courtyard go southwards until you reach another locked door right next to the archway. Use the Alohomora spell to unlock the door.
After going through the door, use the staircase to go up. After the staircase comes to an end, you’ll reach the Clock Tower and you’ll instantly notice the final Daedalian Key along the path. Follow the Daedalian Key by using the staircase to go even more up. Eventually, you’ll reach the next floor in the Clock Tower. On this floor, turn northwest to find the last secret cabinet which will give you the 16th House Token.
